**** The Official Google Pixel C Thread ****

For those interested, I'm still happy with the Pixel C. Great device.

Same, I'm loving this tablet. :)

I can't fault it, it's received some flak for the lack of split screen support but it's not a feature I use so I don't really care.

Just in case anyone else overpaid buying it straight away:

"Thank you for your recent order from the Google Store.

During checkout it appears you were charged an additional £70 on top of what we had originally intended the Pixel C to be priced at for your region. We have gone ahead and applied a refund for this amount back to the original payment method used for this purchase. This refund may take a few days to reflect with your financial institution."

I got the same email earlier today, took them long enough.

Any one having trouble with the touchscreen, I've noticed that when using the on-screen keyboard to type it misses about 1/3 of my key presses and it not because I type too fast, also when it doesn't always pick up my two fingers when I try to zoom in or out

I noticed this while playing Vainglory a few weeks ago but I've not noticed anything since.

Restart the tablet and hope the issues goes, it appears to fine for me now.

Not noticed anything with the touch yet. Sorted the WiFi playing up by setting a static IP on my router. Just would disconnect on sleep which although not a massive issue was a bit annoying.

Look here for many fixes/explanations etc:

Also contacted support about the short-cuts not working on a UK keyboard and this is the response I got:
"My name is Alex. It was a pleasure speaking with you today.

I've had a response from my escalation team. I can confirm for you that due to the differences in the layout of the keyboard, the situation you have described is completely normal. If you are unable to access characters that are accessible within an alternate keyboard layout, then I'm afraid you will need to change the keyboard layout and then change back. "

Which I am not too happy about, its a bug not a feature.
Basically if you want to use | or \ the shortcuts only work in US format not UK.

Will see if I can raise a complaint for all the good it will do.

Otherwise I am very happy with the device.
Hopefully split screen will be coming soon although I just seem to spend most of my time playing Baldurs Gate on it :D

In case anyone cares, the latest security update appears to have fixed the software issues, touchscreen works perfectly now and users are reporting the the same for issues with the keyboard.

At least the can count on Google for regular updates if nothing else.

Must admit is does seem to make the connection to the keyboard more reliable.
Pressing the ... also brings up all the symbols that it never used to do for me when the shortcuts they stated didn't work.

I am very happy with mine though now :)
Just wish Dbrand or someone would make a good skin or I may end up with a slip case or something.

Following seems quite useful for info:

Since the update I'm noticing a nice general improvement to performance as well, especially in Chrome.

They've done a good job with the update.

The back of the tablet seems to be holding out quite well, but yes it could use a skin for better grip.

Argh... "dev discount code" now useable in UK... is it worth a dib on a 32GB one, given 25% off?

Really taken by how decent the split screen looks in Android on on the Pixel C, but torn because it's a Tegra.

Thoughts from owners greatly appreciated.

I also saw this and wanted to jump on it but after reading reviews I passed. Will wait until they release the next one and give it a better review!
Side note- if anyone wants a dev code let me know!

I've got the dev discount offer but just can't pull the trigger on one, tablet adoption from an application perspective on Android just doesn't come close to that of iOS and for me that's the biggest sticking point. It's a lot of money for a device where half of the apps just aren't optimised.

Not sure if serious, you'll have to wait for Android N if you want splitscreen, or until they get it working properly in the beta.

Is it worth it? well I can't name another tablet for the same price that offers this kind of hardware so I don't really see any competition, so it's worth it.

Fairly serious! Think I'll go for it regardless... Would have been interesting to see what it was like if they'd stuck with it as a Chromebook, but I'd be happy with Android on the hardware.

Its a Tegra device, so you'll always be going out of your way, to chase performance that should have been there from the word go.
It's a real shame this wasn't a ChromeOS device.

having a heavy read through XDA, it looks like it still is a ChromeOS device to a fair degree... Mother-in-law's HP Chromebook 14 is running pretty decent with the Tegra and destroys my Chromebook 11 for speed.

Still feel a bit wary after the first Nexus 7 and how bad that got, but I've hope with this being a Pixel device that it won't nose dive in the same way that did.

Shifting things around to get one bought now though.

At £300 I may get one for my dad.

Google's return policy is good so I can at least try it out and see if it's worth keeping.

I definitely wouldn't buy a Chrome OS tablet so they made the right choice imo.

There were issues with the original firmware but it's fine now, smooth, fast and very responsive.

Battery life depends what your using it for, if I'm just gaming it will last me around 4-5 hours SoT , general use will net me around 6-7 hours SoT.

GPU performance is better than Snapdragon 820 so will last a long while yet and not far off the iPad Pro so I think it's fairly good value.

Agree with all of this - Add to that the Android N preview is working well which adds the much wanted split-screen
