**** The Official Google Pixel C Thread ****

Mate finally got his 13 month old Pixel replaced by Google they kept sending him back to Currys for repair who were being arsy about it.
He is getting a new 64gb to replace the 32gb he had.

As above, are these still worth considering? The 64gb can be had new for £300 now (and the keyboard for £73 but I don't need that).

That's cheaper than the Samsung Tab S3.

Still worth it just as a tablet?

I would say so. Just don't expect any more updates - Oreo is the last one

Returning my Lenovo Tab 4 Plus to JL asap and ordering the Pixel C whilst that price is low. I lose out on the SD card storage but I'm not too fussed there.

How do you know it won't get another update?

Tempted myself to be honest at that price even though I've got a 2017 iPad, which is fine, but I've always thought I'd rather have an android tablet (even though the app situation is less than ideal)

Mine is currently on the 8.1 beta and working nicely... Can't seem to find the actual support lifecycle page in amongst the Pixel and Nexus ones, as it still seems to be an odd one out on those pages.

Wouldn't mind if it stalled at 8.1, but hopefully there's a bit life in it yet for updates! Still a great bit of kit for me, so here's hoping.

HEAD SCRATCHER: online Pixel phone help seems to be the destination that Google point to for you to "learn more", but then the trail goes cold.

It gets 2 years of updates like every Nexus device, started on marshmallow, so nougat is first, Oreo second :(

Surely though it's not definite that it WONT get an update though. Just that they guarantee 2 years of updates. In any event, I would imagine there will be a custom ROM to take it to the next version even if its not officially supported just like on the Nexus 9.

Anyway, I've got a VERY itchy trigger finger today. I've got a Macbook Air and an iPad at present. This with the keyboard could replace them both for my uses (I've got a desktop Win10 PC for "real" work - when I say work, I generally mean games with about 5% work!). I've already bought a NAD D 3020 today (got a good deal on that too!).

If you go by every Nexus device before, you can pretty much guarantee a max of 2 years. Apparently it's due to chipset manufacturers not supplying code or something

Oh well, it'll keep me going until the cheap Pixelbooks are floating around in a year or two time :)

I didn't mind my iPad, but I'm not a massive fan of iOS if I'm honest, always wanted the Pixel C but £600 for the 64Gb and keyboard for a near 2 year old device, no matter how good it may have been, was hard to swallow, but that's a good discount!

Bugger it. I've gone for it!
Nice. I am still deciding. I would assume no more updates and if there are then it would be a bonus.

I am considering the upgrade from a 2013 Nexus 7 and also an old Samsung Tab Pro. But in your case I am not sure what a two year old Android tablet would offer you over a new iPad. What is it that really interests you about moving to Android?

I use both iPads (kids both have iPad pros) and android tablets (mine) and iOS drives me nuts. But I would still say it's better even if it's not for me.

See above, I just prefer the Android OS to iOS. Nothing personal just the way it is. Remember my new iPad contains a chipset and screen tech that's at least 2 years old itself (A9, and the screen is from the original Air).

I read earlier in this thread someone replaced their Macbook Air with it too, I have one of those too, like it, but its overkill for my needs. The iPad and Macbook together will net me a profit when sold.

Good point about the iPad being old tech and selling the iPad and Macbook would result in a parent cash too.

I was really hoping the pixel c could replace my laptop for web development but I don't think it's suitable for that, sadly.
