limited run due to component availability (those germanium transistors of that spec are rare)

i mean, currently, only country that has received them so far is Japan, all the others around the world are still in transit (container ships), so no dealers has received them yet so the used market is only the ones from Japan. I believe last night was the 1st one that showed up from North America on Reverb.

So once people have them, as opposed to just Japan, then there will be more on the used market, thus lower prices.

possibly. We'll see. The attraction for me is a good germanium fuzz you can toggle between buffered and bypass. I have one board that needs it buffered (where the average germ fuzz can't hack it) and one where bypass works but only if I put it infront of the wah which I don't like doing. I bought a different wah to avoid that, but the tone isn't right so being able to have somethig which doesn't care where it sits in the chain is a mighty attractive prospect.

I imagine it wouldn't get lower than the Macari's version though, which is at £750.

bit harsh...I'm not one for buying pedals..have had a Digitech RP10, a POD XT and a Kemper (Kemper now sold and back to the POD XT!) that pretty much satisfied all my needs since I started playing nearly 20 odd years ago! - only pedals I've bought are a Slash Crybaby wah and a Digitech Brian May Pedal due to GnR/Queen phases...and a Digitech Trio pedal that I just liked the idea of

but there's no harm in buying what you want

Alternatively just learn to play with the gear you have

It's not about hard graft and practising, it's simply about spending £10k+ on pedals as one of them *must* be the one that makes you sound awesome even if all you're playing is twinkle twinkle little star at 1bpm. Or is that too much on the edge?

I agree it's harmless and not hurting anyone - but buying expensive gear and then more expensive gear and spending hours arranging pedal boards and polishing your guitars and taking nice photos of it all is not the path to becoming a good guitar player

Clearly I've hit a nerve though - go ahead buy an overpriced £1k limited fuzz pedal reissue from a scalper if you want to, it's just got to be that one missing piece and once you finally have it you'll be the guitarist you were always meant to be (or will there just be another white-whale uber expensive pedal that you've got to have because you're still not quite happy with your sound that must be holding you back)

I just enjoy this bit...weird, but i do :p

Then I plug the guitar straight into a Yamaha THR10 to play at home! lol

Why? because i can. No nerve hit, I don't buy from scalpers.

If I had a Klon, I would do this 100%, just because i can.:D

I never get why people get so upset about other people’s gear, the point in playing music is to enjoy yourself and if part of one persons enjoyment is having a pretty guitar and an immaculately laid out peddle board full of collectors edition kit then so be it. You are right that kit is no substitute for practice but music and guitar in particular is about more than that the gear to some people is a big part of the fun much like photographers with 20k of kit to take a rage family snaps and commuters in 500bhp sports cars queuing on the m25.

Personally I have a collection of cheap guitars all of which sound much better when played by anyone half decent, everyone and then I get to the point of almost blowing big bucks on guitars but in the end the money stays in the bank. I’m sure one day I’ll land up with the les Paul and L-00 combo I’ve always wanted hanging on the wall, will it make me a better player almost certainly not but it will put a smile on my face!

I know people with £20k camera set up too take rage photos of their family! They have a better set up than me! I am not bothered about it, it's actually a little in joke on TP. That I am glad I don't have pets or young children otherwise I would need £6k camera and £2 lenses for that afternoon snap. :D

Speaking of cheap gear...I bought something really cheap, old, used and dinged up yesterday. PRS SE One.

Looks good - I've toying with the idea of one of these as everyone surely needs a single cut with a p90. There's one on Reverb that keeps tempting me. I might sell my tele for it.

IU've always assumed Reverb was a USA site - just had a look but see it's all in £'s..sellers from all over the place

is it quite a trustworthy place to buy from? as I say it's came up in searches before but just dismissed it as thought it wasn't for the UK

It's a world wide site, before Brexit it was much more useful as you can send within the EU without any tax, now it's just a bit crap. Used gear from Reverb will still attract VAT when it lands here, so overnight all used gear over £135 has got 25% more expensive overall. I got my Piano stand on Reverb, couldn't find it anywhere else but I found one on there.

It's like eBay, buy through Paypal and if it goes wrong you are covered. I've bought a guitar on there from the US, lots of Japanese sellers lists there too. It's great for musical gear tbh. I go there first before eBay as it's more specialised, however you are more likely to find a bargain on eBay than Reverb.

Remember the list price isn't the market price, check sold listing to see how much similar items recently sold for and go with that. People on reverb tends to be a bit optimistic with their prices.

The £400 one? That's quite expensive, mine has a ding and got it for £250. I'd say £300 would be max for one of these, I think they were £400 new and last time they were out was 2019. Remember there is no tone pot in the SE One.

Your pictures always make me want your guitars! Must be the expensive lenses ;) Brexit has been so bad for guitar players first the pound tanked so everything particularly the US made stuff went up in price massively and then the free market exit and the VAT and shipping chaos!

I’ve said it a few times but I should have stocked up on les Paul studio’s three years ago as second hand they were dirt cheap and now they have gone crazy, mind you I wish I’d gone mad when you could get Greco, Burny and Orville stuff from Japan for 300/400 a few years back as they are in fantasy land I saw someone selling a bolt on Greco for £900 and getting interest!

LOL, actually, the lens does cost more than the guitar...

Apart from that corner, the guitar is in good shape, even the back of the neck and body of the guitar is very clean. Only that single bit which is the previous damage.

The fretboard particularly is really really good, like PRS USA good.

I think last 12 months has got really bad for buying gear, it's great if you had lots of gear to sell but sucks to buy. Brexit and the Pandemic has driven everything through the roof, there are still opportunities to get a guitar in pre-pandemic prices but those listing usually sell fast, like in minutes, either by people who has alerts set up or dealers picking them up. You will often see them get re-listed with a 20% hike.
