Has anyone any suggestions for some low gain pickups for a Sheraton II? I was going to sell it after getting an ES-335, which is sweet.

However, I'm considering making it into a jazz orientated guitar as I kinda feel bad for it. As it stands, I dislike the stock alnico pups.
Can't go wrong with some classic PAFs for anything vintage, jazz, or old school up to AC/DC and Zeppelin. I think it's down to how good the pickups themselves are made. What's your budget? I've fitted lots and lots of Bare Knuckle pickups but they're not cheap.

About £200, not factoring the new pots and so on. I like the Sheraton and it is 'disposable', put I really don't get on witht he pups. Gigging with the 335 is a little scary.

Should get you something decent. Depends if you will do the install yourself, or if you can negotiate some labour cost with whoever supplies the pickups. Rewiring semi-hollowbody guitars is a very sweary task :o

Some rarities

My 520 is 1 of 100 worldwide, and about 1 of 12 in the UK.

If we didn't have a kid on the way, I would possibly have a Martin. I do prefer the 'brighter' Taylor sound, but Martins are... Martins. A good thing.

The Eipiphone is a beater for the Garden...Pretty decent sounding for the money...

Pretty tasty collection there Easy!

I feel I need more guitars now :(

If you could chose 1 electric, 1 bass and 1 acoustic?
I get the same feeling, currently only have 1 of each (and the acoustic is one I picked up for £70 about 12 years ago, so pretty crappy but it's hardly ever played) and keep craving expanding my collection, but honestly I'm very happy with my electric and bass. Think the next one for me is a P-Bass with some vintage pickups and flats, considering doing a kit from Thomann, give me something practical to do!

Well i am about a month into learning guitar. I know the 9 common chords as my online teacher calls them and can switch between most of them fairly well now. I am getting much smoother at doing chromatic warm up exercises, at the beginning i was very clunky but its great to see progress with dexterity.
On the side i have learn't all the small things by Blink 182 which included learning how to palm mute (yes i have jumped well ahead of where i am on my course but i couldn't resist!)

I wanted to ask if its worth having a good guitar just to play with at home with a practice amp? I'm thinking around Xmas time it would be nice to get a better guitar around £6-700 but as I will mostly just be playing at home i wonder if its worth it.

My first acoustic was a Fender CD60 for 100 stinkers. However I soon upgraded to a GS mini Koa, which I find much easier to learn on and makes the CD60 much easier to play.

The GS mini was 700 quid and I play it every day. For electric; of the three I own, I almost exclusively play on a Strat standard HSS.
