Damn, I keep trying to run Heaven with my new overclock (and on new hard drives) and it won't finish a second run because it keeps stopping with an error saying D3D11 appwindow:: DeviceSwap or something like that

The overclock on my 6970 is 980/1450 @ 1.26V, is fine in Kombustor at 1.24V but even at higher voltages it wont do a run of Heaven!

I get exactly the same with my 580SLI. Anything above 930core and D3D11 failure, even though they will bench anything else at 950. I think Heaven hits the shaders pretty hard and does not give them pause in between, unlike 3Dmark11 etc.

If it ain't stable within any single app, it ain't stable..... I tend to use 930 for benching and 900 for 24/7. Both are completely stable, but I am not comfortable running my system at it's max all of the time. Only Metro 2033 needs this kind of horsepower anyway.

What!!! I thought they never honored any of the orders as it was a pricing error apparently, Greebo got a dispatch email for two he ordered only to get an email later on saying the order had been canceled... £311, that's insane.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=17907983&postcount=947

I know - I spent a few hours over several phone calls to their CS asking them what would happen if the price chaged i.e. it was a pricing error

They told me it was correct despite me pointing out the price on any other e/retailers site - I told I thought it was wrong

I said what if it isnt - they said they would honor the price - I asked for an email (and stayed on the line) - the email (after several attempts as some wooly words) I was happy they have confirmed, in an email, that they would stand by the price

Lo and behold my (along with the others) order got cancelled so I called and emailed them saying you confirmed, via email, you would stand by the cost

nothing back but I persisted and just took the stance - how do i order my cards at the price you promised ?

It took numerous phone calls and emails, but eventually was told to place an order for the two cards and they would adjust the price - I was dubious, but placed the order and emailed them the order number and within a few hours they dropped the order value to the originally offered price

The order was placed on 12th December and the cards have been out of stock ever since - i honestly thought id never see them - infatc on Thirsday they got some Palit cards in and I very almost (only being busy at work stopped me) called to ask if they would swap from teh Asus to the Palit so I got the cards.

Anyway had a very pleasent surprise when I got home from work yesterday a dispatch and tracking number, but still disnt 100% believe it but good old (:P) City Link turned up at 7.10 this morning with a nice brown box containing 2 Asus Voltage Tweak GTX580s :D

10.12a drivers as I won't stand for this tessellation molestation :D.

975/1500 @ 1.175v 6950 BIOS with Unlocked shaders. Had to run with HT off for this benchmark.

Highest resolution I can run I'm afraid. My screen can do 1920x1440 with a Nvidia card (9800GTX) I was testing for a friend 8 weeks ago. ATI however I can't get it to show up more than 1600x1200 :(.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=18153721&postcount=136

950/1400 in the link above with 1596 score. Same drivers but with 6970 BIOS.

Status: 2 GTX 460 1gb oveclocked by Palit and a little by me (820/1640/2020)
PSU: CORSAIR AX750 Gold
Question:
will the same psu be enough in case I will decide to upgrade the GPUs to a couple of 480?

And here's my Heaven Demo bench:

Note: resolution is 1920x1200
Code:
Heaven Benchmark v2.1

FPS:
71.3
Scores:
1796
Min FPS:
27.7
Max FPS:
153.2

Full test result: http://goo.gl/lDJfN

For heaven benchmark I could squeeze a little more juice at 840/1680/2040.. but the tested speed is my optimal one.
Stable as I like it in any game.

You have unlocked the shaders but I notice your texture fillrate hasn't changed.

I have seen a big boost both in games and benchies with my flashed 6950...I am using a 6970 bios

Anyway use the other threads for stuff like that.

This is the Heaven Benchmark thread and people can you learn how to use crop.

Cheers

That's because unlocking shaders does nothing for your texture fillrate.
Texture fillrate = TMUs x GPU clock.
Pixel fillrate = ROPs x GPU clock.
And since you can't increase the number of ROPs or TMUs, the only way to increase both texture and pixel fillrates is to overclock the GPU.
