***The Official HP TouchPad Thread***

Tip: You can't setup an Exchange email account if the server SSL certificate is invalid, for example, if it is out of date. Go to OWA in the browser, trust the certificate, and then go back and setup the email account.

Got my Touchpad last night, but still unable to do System Updates. Tried more than a dozen times, but it always ends "Unable to connect. Try again later". Web/Email work fine. Do I have to do something special, tried praying already?

Edit: Must be about 200 attempts now. Is something wrong with my Touchpad?

Leave wifi on for a while and it may do it itself. A few hours after I got mine, it was pestering me to install the update that it had downloaded in the background.

Well this has been over 24 hours. Maybe I'm being impatient, but Windows Update doesn't (usually) work like this. :o

Sorry about this question but could you explain more in detail please?

Thanks

Its for corporate exchange mailboxes. Sometimes the certificates are not trusted because they might be out of date or from an unknown authority. What he's saying is, visit your corporate exchange through the browser (OWA is outlook web access). It will ask you if you want to continue or navigate away from the page if the certificate is bad, out of date, etc. If you accept and then install / trust the certificate, the certificate is downloaded to the touchpad and allows you to set up the Exchange account correctly

This is a good device, but the more I use it, the more I love my iPad 2 (I suspect the same can be said for the Tab 10.1, etc).

The idea is there but it simply isn't fluid enough and can be a bit buggy. No doubt that will be improved with future updates though.

I would seriously feel sorry for anyone that paid £500 for one of these. :p

That was my exact feeling using mine, glad I had my iPad 1 to actually do something with.

Still, looking forward to Android on the TouchPad

Thanks, that was a better description. Only thing to add is select the always trust option when downloading the certificate.

Try in the morning, the servers are probably being hammered :)

Ok this is weird. Couldn't get System Update to work from home this morning. Brought it into work and bingo first time. Didn't think my wifi at home was that shabby, content plays fine on my iPod touch for example, and still just a DSL connection at work.

Am quite pleased with the 720p playback, copied an mkv over (1.4gb) and it plays flawlessly :)

Played using kalemsofts player and my touchpad is running @ 1.5ghz ... With the usual patches all applied!

I restored back to original software as my battery was dieing quicker than normal, a kernel or patch that I installed must have done it.... Testing without all of that but with the OS update and logging down to minimal.... 80% battery life lastnight, in sleep mode, this morning when I woke up 78% battery life.... Gonna keep testing.....

I don't understand why all my 720p videos don't play correctly in Kalem - video is fine but the sound isn't in sync :(

EDIT - Fixed :)
