*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Well it said something along the lines of 'sdcard not mounted or visible'. I put all my videos in the movies folder on the root as that worked fine.

Anyway that was a fun way to spend an hour :p Rang up all 3 O2 shops in leeds to find out which one would give me least hassle when i arrived. First one said the chipping is just down to the material and thats just something to expect with the phone. She was the dumbest cow i've ever heard so i put the phone down without bothering to argue. 2nd place said its a matter to be taken up with HTC only there is nothing they can do instore, i tried to say just look on google but he refused. 3rd guy said 'its on contract right? just bring your receipt and we'll swap it straight over'. Love how it varies shop to shop

So i got there and he took a look and said he hadn't heard anything about it happening before even though they've sold loads of them but he agreed to swap it but said he'll only do it once after this it will have to be with HTC  I just said whatever and got it swapped. Now to wait and see

Hmm

Go to the settings of estrongs and make sure the app backup directory is set to ":/sdcard/backups/apps/"

I just tried backing up an app and it worked fine. Not that it matters any more though :p

Typical, thought that might happen :p At least you got this one sorted out. If it does happen again, just keep pestering them (hoping to get someone different each time :p) and if not then contact HTC and tell them and see what they say.

That's what it was set to as default and didn't work with that. Failed with any app i tried. I'll give it a go later when i've reinstalled everything, just realised i can't do over wi-fi till my dad gets back as my device is no longer approved on the network

Loving this phone in general just a couple of niggles.
I work in a loud environment and keep missing text messages and emails due to the low speaker level. Anyone tried any market apps to increase notification volumes?
Or alternatively can reccomend a good loud notification sound to download?
Regards

Check the camera settings are correct and if they are, try a factory reset.

If that doesn't help then it's probably faulty. :(

Camera settings are all default. It also stopped recognising my sim a few mins ago and i had to reinsert it, and a couple of my apps are saying they are no longer installed. Whatever sun we had has just disappeared so can't really test it any more

Adjust the ISO setting manually and see how they turn out then. Auto tends to use the highest ISO even when it is not necessary, hence why in your shots there and some of mine the whites and any bright colours for that matter have the "glow effect".

Another thing to note, there is much less of a lip around the top edge of the screen on this one, especially in the upper left hand corner. It's very nearly flush whereas my other one was far off.

Is their manufacturing process really so variable?

Really cba going back into town if i need to. Maybe i'll write to HTC and claim my bus fare off them :D

Had another reset tonight, but have read a about a few peoples One S's randomly resetting, and some have said the 1.78 update has stopped it.

So I'm fairly happy it's a software issue, but if it keeps doing it after the update arrives I'll exchange it.

I'm on my second One S having exchanged the first one for poor mobile network reception. Second model was no better. This one I've been in touch with HTC about and they want it back in for investigation and repair. They did suggest as it was so young I could maybe get yet another one off the retailer I got it off - I did not really fancy my chances  Anyway this one is being returned for repair for the mobile network reception issue. If it comes back the same then I'll sell it and look at something else - which won't be HTC I'm affraid. I will stress where I'm having issues the signal is good .... but not on the HTC One S. It's a shame really as other than that it's a cracking phone BUT I do need a phone with reception. Motorola Defy+ has no issues with mobile network but has plenty of others  Don't at all fancy going back to that and not very keen on Motorola customer service at all.

Could it be something to do with the type of radio in the One S and the antenna that he's connected to?

I've always thought something like this could be a factor in strange reception issues such as this.

Shame about that richy :(

You would think that HTC would have sorted this issue out by now along with all the other issues that people seem to be experiencing instead of just concentrating on the one phone (X).......

I don't think I will be using any stock based ICS ROM as the camera in sense is far better IMO plus you will loose all the features like slow motion video, the effects etc. which I use quite a lot :( and same goes for the sense gallery, calendar etc. unless they can port them over.......

Only configuration I would be using is sense based ROM (cut down a lot with most of the features/widgets removed) and an ICS theme.
