*** The official HTC One S thread ***

Around 50% brightness i think. It was too bright for a dark room :p

Yeah the auto brightness makes the screen quite a bit brighter than what it really needs to be.

I think there is a mod/tweak on XDA that has adjusted it, which I may give ago when I eventually root :p

White e-reader background.

That's quite an insanely low usage when idle :o

Certainly is! No idea why all of a sudden though.... Out of all the times that I have checked that graph, that is the least amount of drain I have ever seen, must have been an app malfunctioning in the background or something :p (very rarely restart my mobile)

Got my One S today, happy with it so far, lovely looking thing, very slim. Shame I'm going to have to put it in an Otterbox case, kind of ruins the slimline feel :D

Spent the evening setting it up and getting it to my liking. I'm having one problem though, with getting Facebook and Handcent to work together. On my desire, handcent would display profile pictures of all my contacts, and this works on the default messaging app on the S, but I can't get it to work in any third party SMS app. One of my contacts isn't saved as a contact in my phone either, its just linked to his facebook profile, and annoyingly, his name won't show up in any SMS app either, just his number. Its as if the two won't see each other, despite the facebook stuff showing up just fine in People, and if you click where the profile pic should be, the contact card pops up with the picture on it just fine!

IIRC it is a problem with sense and only HTC can release an update or the app developers have to update their apps for sense V4 in order to fix that.

Although one of my friends facebook photo gets displayed in go sms.......

As for the rest, I am not too sure about as I don't use facebook at all so :p

Can you not just add your friends name manually through the stock phone dialer/contact app?

Looks like someone has got the new model with bevelled USB

Nice, hopefully that will be the chipping issue sorted out for good now :)

One less problem!

For anyone still after one:

£16 a month for HTC one S on talkmobile from CPW. (£35.25 cashback with topcashback too

200 mins
500 txt
unlimited data (no tethering)

I was very tempted but still got 5 months on my t-mobile sim only and CPW wouldn't buy me out or anything.

You thinking of getting one now then sarge? :p

Interesting.....

If true, tough call in some ways.

S4 & qHD VS 720P & S3

Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

If there was no difference in speed/smoothness in real life usage (or very little difference) and battery life remained the same, I would go for the 720P/S3 version I think.......

Shame they didn't add more internal storage or/and SD slot whilst they were at it though :p

Which version would go for kona if you had a choice and had to choose? :p

What about you as well Sarge? Pretty sure you will say the S4 version :p :D

Like you say - if the performance and battery like stayed pretty much the same - then the decision is easy - 720p all day long.

If however the performance and stamina dropped very noticebaly then it becomes a very hard choice. Would have to say keep the S4 I think.

I'd prefer a cheap Xperia S tbh, even though 720p and the S3 is not a good solution. Battery life is **** when using it fully.

Really temped by that deal though, think I'll check out Vodafones network speeds this weekend.

:p :D

The xperia s is a pretty damn nice phone!

Yeah, I can't see the s3 combined with 720P having great battery life either. HTC should have put a bigger battery in to make up for the extra res. and worse chip!

HTC say that the battery life will be no different, can't see that being the case though.

That deal is fantastic! For £16 pm you won't get a better deal for this. I'm happy with my HOX but my sister is looking to upgrade her SGS2 to this, mostly for the camera and Sense.

At this price it's a steal and £210 trade in makes it affordable.
