***The Official HTC One Thread***

Got a black HTC one on the way tomorrow :)

So what should I do to get the most stock experience?

I've got apex launcher pro, will that be enough to get it how I want it?

I'm coming from a nexus 4, so I like a clean interface and swipe gestures.

now running ARHD 10.0 (4.2.2) - pretty sweet indeed!

10.1 due out today too :)

I'm really tempted to do this, but might give three a little longer in hope of the 4.2.2 update coming rather than the 1.29 one.

*Will probably be waiting forever..

is the only good way to get an unbranded international phone (and thus actually get OTA updates) to order through phones4u or carphone? im used to rooting etc so thats not a issue but i have enjoyed just system updating with my nexus 7.

You could send it in for repair to HTC and get a replacement. :p My original handset was on Three. Although they might mess you around a bit and make you wait longer.

hehe bit risky. i returned my desire back in the day and got a branded replacement back :(

am i right in thinking theres a chance you get a unbranded one if you buy it from those horrible places tho?

I decided to ahead and unlock the bootloader on my One this afternoon so I could try out my first custom rom on this phone - and I went with the Android Revolution 10.0.

It was a bit temperamental and I got stuck for an hour trying to flash the custom recovery in command prompt (complaining about the recovery.img file name, in the end I just stuck with the CWM's original file name and entered it all manually in cmd and it worked).

Eventually when I got the new ROM loaded, oh wow - so much quicker from the word go and my main goal with installing a custom rom originally was to try out 4.2.2 with these slated camera improvements, and after taking a few test shots this afternoon/evening - at this moment in time I'm glad to report that the camera for me has massively improved! The blurr I was talking about in my previous posts seems to have vanished. Maybe it was down to software after all? I will do some more test shots outside tomorrow and see for sure.

One slight niggle about the camera now though and as others have reported over at XDA - the shots produced do appear slightly more noisy but only noticeable when at full resolution and I believe that a fix may be in the works for when 10.1 is released shortly.

the problem I have with unlocking the bootloader is that i risk loosing all warranty in the past when ive had contract handsets with orange i couldnt give a rats ass as they sent out advance replacements and never once did they say anything about it

Mike1986, the developer of the Android Revolution ROM states that while it is a debatable subject, unlocking the bootloader doesn't void the warranty on these phones.

So i keep reading but some people say they have had problems by doing so, i remember asking on chat with HTC and couldnt get a clear answer, as they will always argue that something in the custom rom will have killed whatever

Tried making a complaint on the HTC UK facebook page. I don't know if it's a facebook thing or HTC but if your post contains the word "lies" the post becomes invisible to everyone except your friends list. Quite sneaky in my opinion.

To be honest though most people posting things with the word 'lies' in it on a companies Facebook page are simply ranting anyway. If you want whatever you have to say to be heard, then word it intelligently.

How long does it take before I am able to use the internet on Three mobile?
Ive just got the phone yesterday and I know WiFi works but when I try using 3G it doesn't work, the phone just says I need to connect to the internet. Now I can send text and call the phone.

Three's data network is currently down, Dunno when it'll be back. It has been off since last night.

It's now 9 working days since my phone was received by the HTC repair centre and still no sign of it - so I've been able to escalate the issue now...

I can comfortably get through a day, with plenty of juice left for the evening. I could not manage this with the HOX I had previously - for that alone, I am pleased with battery performance.
I have most things on a pretty short refresh cycle, and don't turn much off. Also have my Sony Smartwatch connected all through a working day. Generally, have around 40-50% power left around 6pm, having taken the phone off charge around 7am~ish.
Screen time gets comfortably over 2hrs in a day, and I don't turn things like GPS off.....
TBH, all I want from a battery is one that gets me to the next overnight charge - the HO manages that just fine, generally :)

I think that there are still some software issues, mind - on occasion, the phone does seem to keep itself busy (and warm!) and the battery can then take a knock - I think that this may well be after using the camera a fair bit. Even after closing all apps per the task manager, something sometimes keeps eating it up.....a restart seems to resolve this. Haven't really investigated too much, as it rarely is an issue....but!
