***The Official HTC One Thread***

And I need F-OFF because?

S-OFF is only for those you need to change the CID (radio spectrum). So in theory you can turn a branded HTC One into an International HTC One, although it doesn't seem to work for all models yet. This can help bring updates faster to your phone if your network is slow in doing so *cough3cough*.

The dust-under-the-screen saga continues. Handset number 3 arrived this afternoon, with the usual prompt and efficient service from EE. The network, to be fair, I really can't fault here. HTC, on the other hand, ought to be ashamed.

I unwrapped the box and inspected the panel and..... more dust. This is beyond a joke. Three phones, three panels, all affected by dust and material trapped under the glass. Here's my line-up so far:

On this example, to be 'fair', it's one single piece of lint under the glass where the LCD meets the bezel. As such it's something you 'could' ignore (but I'm OCD, and shouldn't have to on a £500 flagship!). So now I'm sick of exchanging phones and charging this one up to see what it's like with the screen on. At least this time the plastic meets the aluminium and the screen is flush in the body (unless you get out a micrometer).

The first handset had bright 'white' spots where the light was refracting off the dust. The second was so littered in artefacts I didn't even power it on. If this one isn't visible with the screen on I'm giving up and keeping it I think. If it's visible, I think I'll cancel the contract (with apologies to EE) and think hard about whether I should take a GS4 instead.

Am I the only one noticing this?

seems like the only way i can get a htc one black with 3 is to buy through someone like carphone warehouse but phones4u etc dont deal with 3.

anyone bought from buymobilephones.net? seems odd they are the only ones to offer "the one plan" with 3 with a htc one.

I've been through 5 handsets so far and 2/5 including the latest have had dust under the screen. Currently waiting for a new replacement but the guy from head office said all the recent ones have some problem in one way or another and that he'll inspect and send me one from new stock (which supposedly arrived yesterday.)

Don't know how much of this is truth though tbh. He even said that he's never heard of a HTC One with that issue which I thought sounded a bit weird.

Which head office mate, HTC or your network? Which network are you with? Ee told me they'd never heard of this problem either which I find hard to believe... HTC replied to my tweet today saying to ring their customer services department on Monday. I honestly don't know whether to just take it up with them to sort it or go back to the network. The three phones I've had from Ee all with this problem are virtually consecutive serial numbers so it might be a batch issue. With that in mind I figured HTC might have a better handset but then I lose my right to cancel the Ee contract so I'm not sure what to do next tbh.

Edit: I'm typing this from my comparatively wonderful SGS3 LTE. I can't even be bothered using the One it's just annoying me now. I've noticed that the screen is not flush after all and my thumb scrapes the metal every time I use the back button. It's fine on the other side. Beginning to wish I'd just kept this phone and stayed SIM only!

I'm with 3 but I'm talking about the HTC head office. The 1st time I replaced with 3. The guy on the phone didn't know what I was talking about so they just wrote that the device had been tampered with before arrival. Although network doesn't matter anymore as the last 3 replacements were all unbranded sim free as they came directly from HTC.

What do your serials begin with btw ? Mine starts with SH35SW. Getting a repair with HTC is a big risk in my opinion. I was left without a phone for almost 3 weeks. And atm it's been over 6 weeks and I still haven't resolved my issues.

You haven't had much luck with the HO momo, but I have to give it to you, you're certainly persistent when it comes to trying. I hope that eventually you get a HO that meets your standards. I gave up after exchanging mine 4 times and the camera issue was the final nail in the coffin.

Two are FA35NW and one is FA35RW which I've only just noticed. It's annoying because otherwise it's an amazing phone. But I'm at the point of considering cancelling the contract and staying SIM only. HTC could have hit one out of the park with this phone but they've failed miserably.

It's been a lot easier the last 3-4 weeks as they let me keep and use the handsets until I receive a replacement I'm satisfied with. At the moment I've got two HTC Ones.

I would have given up already but there's no other phones out there that I like atm. Apart from their customer service and inconsistent QC the phone itself is pretty amazing.

That's a result that HTC let you keep the phone, you can't be without a phone whilst you're waiting for it to be repaired. So HTC have been good to you in that case. I agree with you the phone is amazing, shame that HTC can't get the QC sorted out. Their customer service department should be more clued up and informed with the issues that some consumers have been experiencing, their twitter account are particularly clueless and next to useless.

Have a look at the Oppo Find 5 thread, that may be a phone that might spark your interest?

I'm loving the slow motion video at the moment. My mate with his iPhone5 is really jealous of how good it is. So happy so far. Only issue is that the ringer volume is loud even though its on the quietest level.

Indeed, it is epic!

Probably use it more than 1080P recording! :p

Love the improvements to this area with sense V5 too, where you can select what parts are in slow motion rather than having the entire video in slow motion.

Just wish they could up the res. to at least 720P though :(
