***The Official HTC One Thread***

Yep, mine does that too - http://youtu.be/MfR2jJzgMfE?t=7m25s (looks at 7m25)

It happens pretty much any time I record. I have to edit out the first few seconds but it sometimes happens mid recording too.

It's the reason I'm selling it and keeping the S4. HTC have been no use at all, saying it's not faulty, but if this isn't faulty then it's a poor phone and I'll move on. Shame, I really wanted to like it.

S-OFF works without the need to unlock the bootloader ? Well... this must be great for those wanting to unbrand their One :D.

That's what I've done. Mine is now unlocked & unbranded & receiving OTA updates directly from HTC. I've changed the CID to HTC__001 which is generic European CID.

im already htc_001 so can you s-off and install custom roms etc like the old days and then be able to revert back to s-on and stock roms?

The tool can unlock & relock the bootloader without S-OFF so you can install any rom/recovery you want. The only reason I S-OFFed was to change the CID on the device.

Mine does it throughout the whole recording. It's quite subtle though. I could deal with it needing to focus for the first few seconds only.

Yeah, I could deal with that too. As you can see, it warps in and out of focus very badly while filming though, nothing subtle about it.

Surely that was only because you were giving it a very hard scene light wise to keep focus on. There was bright sunlight coming in from all those door openings and you were circling the bikes and therefore constantly changing the light dramatically. The rest of the video seems fine

This is what I thought looking at the video. I'd expect it to have to re-focus under some circumstances.

Thought the same there too personally.

I also think people are far too anal about certain things on a phone, Hell it wasn't all that long ago that we had crap phones!

Went to try one in tesco today, the lady who worked there said get the s4 as the camera on the one is not very good..

It kinda put my wife off as the camera is important for her.

The shutter speed was awesome though how does the gs4 shutter compare.

+1

For some reason this year, everyone seems to be very "anal", not just with the one but also the GS 4

Although I wouldn't put up with some things like dust under the screen, dead pixels etc.

Regarding the focusing stuff, HTC phones have always been pretty poor especially when you have variable lighting conditions and low lighting (however, the one should be better this time due to bigger pixels etc.), Samsung are generally always better in the light metering and the focusing area.

There is still a lot that HTC could improve with the one camera and I expect to see a fair few more improvements at some point........

Don't listen to any of the **** that those monkeys tell you, they don't have a clue and get better paid/bonuses from the likes of Samsung and Sony to promote their phones instead, hence why the galaxy devices have their own stands, posters plastered everywhere etc.

Comes down to what your wife takes photos of and how she uses the camera, what she does with them after etc.

As for the shutter speed, from my experience and reading other users opinions at XDA etc., the shutter on the one is far quicker, especially the HDR processing/shots, supposedly the GS 4 has improved with the latest but I doubt that it will ever match the one as the one has a dedicated image chip, less MP and bigger pixels so not as much to process and the shutter doesn't have to stay open for as long plus in combination with OIS, you will get more consistent usable/less blurry shots especially in lower lighting conditions.

I wouldn't put up with those either to be fair. But in that video you can see why it is focusing so much.

The same goes for the other video too, You are trying to record people moving quickly of course its going to be trying to focus that every few. It isn't a proper video recorder.

She mostly uses it for shots of our toddler, needs to be fast as she is very fast lol. At the moment her Arc s is doing quite a good job, im sure the pictures on the htc one will be at least as good as those of the arc s?

Apart from that she uses it for facebook, whatsapp, youtube and odd bit of browsing. The only thing that really worries me is the QC.
