*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Anyone else on T-Mobile still waiting for the update?

Yep nothing has come through yet...this is why i dont really bother with network branded phones...they always seem to get the updates late but couldnt resist as the deal that i got was too good to pass up.

Still in 2 minds about whether i will keep the One X or my iphone4...either one will be sold soon but at the moment im having a hard time deciding lol. I just cant take to Android, i actually prefer the simplicity of the iphone4 plus apps wise theres a greater range of apps. Although saying that a lot of my iphone apps i have, ive managed to get them on the One X. But theres a couple that dont seem to be available for the One X. Audio/mp3 wise im pretty impressed with the One X, didnt think it would sound as good as the iphone4 but it does, in fact i think it sounds that little bit better. The only other thing bothering me is the battery life on the One X, i know its a quad core cpu etc but it doesnt last very long.

I posted some battery info a bit ago, it's improved a little bit since then as well (and future updates should improve it further still, there are some power management issues currently):

I'm not sure what you are getting from your 9900 and how much you are using it.

Thanks for that :)

Well yesterday I took my phone off charge at around 8am, and with general use, wasn't using it loads as I was at college but was still using it to talk to a few people (texting, no phone calls), it was at 30%-ish by 4pm.

So I'm sure there is an issue with my BB battery as my brother's lasts much longer than that

I agree with you on the audio by the way, that'll teach me to listen to reviews! :p

It's really good, easily as good as the iPhone.

I know what you mean about the iPhone, I still think it's the top dog all round (though it's extremely close and comes down to personal requirements more than anything).

The quad-core CPU shouldn't impact the battery, the idle drain is actually really good. It's the screen and some power management issues that are messing it up at the moment. I can see at least a 20% increase when they sort all of the stuff out (soon).

Okay, that's good then, hopefully mine will be OK as other than that it sounds like a really good phone :)

My 9900 has a poor battery compared to my brothers one, that is one of the reasons I am having it replaced, so hopefully it will be better than 'my' 9900 lol, I hope so anyway as my brothers 9900 battery is OK, (EDIT) so if it matches his BB battery performance (lasts almost a couple of days without a charge I think) then it should be OK. How long can you go without charging your One X with just general usage?

Thanks for your help (Y)

Tbh ive had my 9900 since it was first released here and ive never ever had any issues with the battery life of it...sure compared to the older BB's its not as good but then its got a 1.2ghz cpu whereas the other BB models didnt have such fast cpu's so you have to take that into account.

Compared to my One X, my 9900 completely obliterates the One X but then the specs and screen arent as good on the 9900. I use my 9900 as my daily driver so to speak and i easily get a days use or even more and i use mine pretty hard ie 100+ emails, texts, BBM and internet browsing. I imagine if i used my One X the same, i would be lucky to get a few hrs use before having to charge:p. Think im going to try that next week and see how it stands up compared to the 9900 and iphone4 that i also own....like i said i dont expect it to last longer than the iphone4 and 9900 as the specs on the 9900 and iphone4 arent anywhere close to what the One X is packing.

Yep like i said to you earlier in the thread, i was very impressed with the audio quality...had it been bad i would have probably stuck it up for sale.

Hopefully they will sort the power management issues out soon as i remember reading something that they put a kernal in the wrong place and i know theres a guide that you can do to sort it out but id rather HTC sorted it out.

The only reason why i like the iphone4 is the simplicity of using it...theres nothing fancy about it in all honesty which is a downside for a lot of people but for some people they perfer it. In all honesty i just think i need to get used to doing things the 'Android' way as ive been too used to doing things the iphone way and Blackberry way:p

That sounds alright then, I don't use my phone that much lol so should be OK :)

Like you say, you're getting so much more in the phone so I guess it's acceptable for the One X to have a battery that runs out quicker

Like you say, your BB lasts a day or more and you use it LOADS more than me, and mine doesn't even last one day. So I think I will probably find the One X battery fine as it will probably last at least one day or more of general usage surely?

EDIT: Like now, I woke up at 10 o'clock and took it off charge, used it to call O2 and my Mum, and it is now on 64%, there is a definite problem with mine lol and I'm hoping/sure the One X will be a lot better than this ofc I'm sure it will be :D

One thing to note mate is that make sure you dont have any apps running in the background as they can affect the battery life pretty badly especially stuff like whatsapp and other apps that have a 'live' connection. I usually make sure i shut down any rogue apps that are running in the background.

But it could very well be a bad battery or a defective device as your not the only one that complains about the bad battery life.

Also have a look at some of the newer OS's for the BB, at the moment im running 7.1.402 OS which has been brilliant battery life wise for me...compared to the 7.1.342 that i was running earlier in the week...i was get about 10% battery drain on idle:eek:. You can find the latest OS's for the 9900 at crackberry.

I'm still on 7.0.0.585 (2406) app version, so that may be it, but this also heats up sometimes so I think there is an issue

I do try and make sure all unncessary apps are closed too

EDIT: I see what you're saying about the latest OS, but at the same time my brother has not updated his either, and his battery performance is considerably better. I think mine is simply faulty

Could very well be, hope it gets sorted for you though.

Yeah hopefully my One X will perform better than 'my' 9900 :D ... and I really really hope that after this BB being my 4th one in 6 months, I seriously hope my One X has NO screen flickering issues :)

IMO I think that both Android and IOS eco-systems are practically on-par with each other in common areas now. My IOS loving friends however are so bought into the whole app-store/iTunes eco-system walled garden that it is actually quite difficult for them to see beyond it (presumably by Steve J's design ;) ).

If you are into specialised stuff like music creation etc then IOS is still clearly streets ahead, but I've been comparing Android to IOS since I got the HTC Desire almost 2 years ago. Back then IOS was streets ahead, now there is nothing between them to be honest. You just have to learn how to do the same things differently ;)

The email app in Sense is really good now. However I'd really like to be able to swipe between messages like you can on stock ICS email client. Anyone found a way of doing it?

Just thinking One X or One S and have a question for anyone, or specifically Robbo as I know he has a One X

I think I would rather have a higher spec phone, like the HD screen, NFC etc, rather than better battery life, I'm sure that updates will improve it a bit and changing power settings / backlight settings will help too

When it comes to general usage, the One X should still at least last one day right? Just light usage, as if I was at work or college, so the a few text messages, checking emails, facebook, twitter and maybe a phone call or two??

Can you confirm this Robbo? How long does your One X battery last with the above sort of usage?

Thanks :)

EDIT: I'd still like to know how long you think it would last with that sort of usage, but someone just said in the One S thread that it should last a day with that sort of usage, sensible screen brightness, closing unnecessary apps and turning off wifi when it isn't needed.

I will also set it so that the backlight goes out quite quickly after I'm done using it so that should help too

I think I'm gonna get the X, like I said, if I don't then I will always regret not getting it just for the battery :p As long as it will last me a day then that is fine as I can come home and charge it :D

I'm not Robbo, but I have a One X, and I think you will be more than fine with that usage. I'm on mine messing with settings and apps most of the day and get a full day out of it. If I am on it constantly (like the day I got it) I had to find a power socket at about 6pm but for general usage it easily lasts a day.

Finding the same here. One x has been off charge since 6.45am, has done 1 hr of listening to music. One hr of GPS, a little bit of facebook and the battery is currently at 71% free. Time now 3.57pm

You'll be fine,

I answered that in the One S thread for you! :p

For approximate usage figures, I'd say (with auto brightness):

48 hours and 3 hours screen on time.

12 hours and 4 hours screen on time, perhaps a bit less.

It can vary due to things like mobile signal, whether you're on wifi (usually a positive), etc.

Don't worry about closing apps either unless they're obviously doing something that will use the battery (such as GPS in the background), Android handles it all fine.

That's fine haha, it wasn't just for Robbo to answer, he has answered in the One S thread for me anyway

Thanks, that's good then, I will obviously play around with apps and things too throughout the day which I forgot to mention in my above post but Robbo said he uses it like I said above and gets almost 48 hrs and if you say playing around on it a bit will get a full day still then that's great :D

Now I just need the O2 guy to ring me when it's in stock, which will hopefully be today but if not tomorrow :)

Thanks for your help :D

You'll be fine,

Thanks for the confirmation guys, I was worried about the battery but I'm not anymore, I just hope my screen does not have the flickering issue, any of you got that? I know Robbo doesn't

Haha I know you did, lol
