*** The official HTC One X thread ***

So what you going to do Nexus? Are you up for the new LG Nexus or are you going to wait for something else?

Not sure yet.

Very happy with my S currently, especially since the last update and we are suppose to be getting JB this month, so I will see what the new nexus device(s) bring and what happens with JB on the S.

The only thing, which I want over my S is a bigger screen :p Happy with the hardware, software and design/build, plus I have no problems with it.

I really like the note II, but unfortunately I think the size will be just too big for me (still have yet to see it in "real life")

Essentially will come down to me keeping the S or moving to a nexus device or the RAZR HD (although don't like the look of the front), but I won't be moving to either of those devices until price drops. Guessing they will be £500+ sim free.

@Nexus As you already know I really like the One S. Am glad that the new update has taken the phone to a higher level!

As long as HTC implement the JB update well then the One S will go from strength to strength!

HTC have to continue to support both the S and X as both the phones are relatively new and they have to look out for their customer base otherwise their customers will look elsewhere.

Samsung have done very well in regards to supporting the S3 and the trend is set to continue with JB being updated across a number of Samsung phones and that's what HTC have to follow.

The Note 2 was too big for me as well and I sent it back I suppose 4.5 to 5 inches is a decent sweet spot for phones.

The LG Nexus phone just isn't inspiring me and I hope that Samsung release a GNex2. The S3 has served me well thus far and I'm happy to use it as my mine driver until next year but it'll be nice to have a pure Google phone too!

@kona786 I think the method of rooting the S3 LTE is the same as the normal S3 but will keep an eye on the XDA I9305 development thread and let you know if anything has changed root wise.

...ahem XL :D

Indeed! :D Also on my list, thought I was missing a mobile! :o :p

But...........even though the screen is very nice, I would prefer SAMOLED :p Although the LG nexus most likely won't have a SAMOLED screen either :(

What is the battery life like for you so far?

I think the RAZR HD could be pretty special due to the battery, supposedly great camera, on screen buttons, SD slot (not overly bothered about this but the internal storage is only 12GB, so it is kind of needed), and essentially being in bed with google now, therefore good software and fast updates, hopefully........

If all turns out well, it could be the new king and for quite a while too.

@stoosh

Yeah, that is another reason why I want a nexus device, updates! TBF if HTC do provide the JB update to the S this month then I will be pretty happy with that as the only other phones to receive the update around the same time will be the X and GS 3 (excluding the one X+ and GS 3 LTE and note II as they already have JB). I was pretty ****** with HTC for the last update though as you are probably aware of :p Essentially they released the update months ago for Europe devices and the UK devices took forever to get the update, branded phones actually got the updates before sim free devices

Is there any phone that you haven't had? :p :D Think you have had more phones than Robbo  :p

As requested, I can give you a bit of information on the Battery Life...unsure as to how you use your phone of course but here's my phone @ well...right now :p

Points to note....

  • Disabled unessential apps
  • WiFi is set to constantly on, not in performance mode.
  • Around 2 hours worth of Music Played today
  • 1.5 hours of internet browsing @ 3G of course
  • Data was disabled during non break periods of work, so was on for around 1hr during the lunch period
  • Since coming home on wifi but not disabled mobile data
  • General texting, messing about with the settings etc today also.

I don't think Richy will be touching another HTC phone again due to his problems with signal on the X and S compared to his defy+ and the new RAZR I :p

Damned right :p HTC will have to shape a good deal better before I buy another. Used to have a Desire and it never had signal issues so why both the X and S were so bad I dunno. Actually X wasn't as bad as the S, infact quite a bit better but still saw the cross over signal strength meter way too often. One S would struggle to last the day for me and think as Nexus says it was hunting for signal all the time and this ran the battery down.

Took a punt on a Razr i. Bit of a gamble with the Intel processor but could always return it under the distance selling scheme :D Got to say the Razr and I get on really well. I have honestly not caught it disconnected from the 3 network since I got it last week :D:D Like the size after the One X as it is more akin to the One S. Screen is bright and contrasty and apart from Flash which won't load and TV Catchup which runs, but most of time has no picture, everything else runs fine. BTW, go to the TV Catchup website and run the TV channels from there and it works fine. Battery life rocks. Came off charge before 6 this morning and currently on 69%. Similar day for the X would have it down to 30 to 35% and One S would probably have gone flat with the signal issues.

I thought about the S4 Razr M may be the way to go or even a Razr Maxx when it's released over here. Maybe look at the Nexus phones when they're released. Now I'm not so sure. I could live with the Razr i no problem :D Compared to the HTC phones it's not very configurable, more so coming from the Viper X rom on the X. Don't know if there will be a development community but interest is increasing. Boot-loader can be unlocked but even if you get a code from Motorola to unlock it and don't go any further they say warranty will be void. Not sure on the legality of that in the UK?

Back to the HTC One phones. Both X and S I also tried T-Mobile sim in which network stregth is good here and disconnections were very similar with both phones and signal strenght was very poor. I'll add I do live in the sticks. In the city all was fine though still suffered in pubs and such?

Nexus, still use Quick ICS Browser. Works as per the One phones except when say browsing these forums and double tap to zoom in the page does not jump up 3 or 4 posts? I think I mentioned this small issue before and never found a solutions short of using Opera.

Very nice so far

How long has the screen been on in total (just "touch" screen there) and what about brightness?

Says 1hr 42mins 16secs at the moment.

Considering the majority of that time has been the main music/browsing at the same time etc that's certainly the most intensive periods of usage.

Also the brightness is just set to Auto at the moment, however I am considering setting up a profile like you suggested in the post you linked.

Probably due to the way HTC stock sense browser handles the text wrapping etc. when you double tap to zoom compared to motorola's browser.

Yup that is pretty good given your usage. With manual control of brightness you should see a very nice improvement as auto brightness makes the screen way too bright for every condition even when in pitch black :p

Generally you are always best taking screenshots etc. of the battery stuff once you hit 15% or lower as the battery meter isn't the most accurate for android phones i.e. might drain quicker nearer the end once you hit 30% etc.

Plus the battery life should improve a bit after the first few charges.

Yeah show it again once closer to the end because that is not much better maybe slightly worse than my HTC One X at the current period you posted the image.

And I think JB might have improved my battery but can't tell as there is no simple display status in power like in ICS.

Having major problems with my One X following transferring media to it via Windows Explorer using the USB connection. Once disconnected, the phone becomes so slow it's almost unusable for several hours at minimum. Last time I connected to the PC it took 2 days to sort itself! Power downs, restarts, hell factory resets don't do a thing.

Searching online for the issue, I found the following thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1761006

It seems that this is a bug with the One X and One XL. Great. I've reported it to HTC requesting a response and an update to resolve, but don't hold out much hope. This is a massive shame, as otherwise I think the phone is great. Anyone else experience this issue here?

Just had the following from HTC.

I am sorry that your device is not in a perfect condition at this time. I would like to arrange for your phone to be repaired in our UK Repair Centre.

Should I go for it (wifi problem)? I've rooted so will need to restore not that that's a problem, just a bit of faff and won't have the phone for ~2 weeks.
