*** The official HTC One X thread ***

And there's your problem :p

I would not be buying refurb mobile devices (unless from the likes of network shops) from gumtree, ebay etc.? Especially one X devices given all the faults it has/had.

From a shop who have a no quibble 60 day guarantee, if faulty within that period they will replace/ refund so hopefully any fault will show within that time which in my case it has, also HTC still honour the remainder based on serial number unlike Samsung!

I sold my original grey one x that was an o2 handset, which was absolutely perfect, with the hope of getting a sim free one from the same place (the 3 white ones i got for the wife were all HTC_001) but they didnt get another A or B grade one in till now, and these 3 white duffs have kind of put me off getting another, I then bought a SGS III which was supposed to be sim unlocked but wasnt so didnt even get to try that other than messing around without a simcard in. So anyway 2 HOX's going back for refund tomorrow, shes now got an old desire and im stuck with a Nokia 100.........

Like others i'm going to wait a couple of weeks and try and get 2 16gb N4's

True but the XL wasnt as good was it? Bigger with more onboard storage but single core cpu?
Ah, looks like it. Bigger in terms of width and height but thinner. Same amount of RAM but 16GB of onboard storage on the XL compared to 1GB on the Sensation. No card slot on the XL though. And the chip seems to be 300Mhz faster but a single core. Oh and, really weirdly, a larger screen on the XL (4.7 inch v 4.3) but a lower resolution (480x800 v 540x960).

So i have one of these coming tomorrow. Can anyone point me in the direction of the best rom to install? My main reason to install a custom rom is to increase battery life and ideally get jellybean (unless there is an official release of jellybean already?) . Just on that front, how do people find the battery on this device?

One of my refurbed ones which suffered from the wifi issue had already been repaired by the looks if it, wanted to see how easy it was to open up so thought what the hell, no tools required either, it had the strips of whatever they use to push the board away from the casing in a similar way to the squeze test, so my guess is they just try and repair them first

Friend of mine has the one x and has been trying to root but says he is having trouble when it gets to 'fastboot' it just flashes up apparently?

Told me he had it rooted before or thinks he did, but when trying to install a rom it just kept rebooting.

Is there a root guide somewhere here for the one x? Is it as easy as the s3 to root? What roms are recommended?

Depending on what rom he was on and what hes trying to flash he might need to flash the correct boot.img

He has only just rooted, i am not there so i cant check on it properly he just keeps texting me lol.

Says he rooted and seemed to go fine and got super su. Went into clockwork mod and installed from sd it was...'ice cold jelly one' is how hes put it on this text. Said it just kept rebooting.

Then said brigcked phone doing it last night, when it comes to the fastboot the command window just flashes up briefly and then wont go any further.

Is there a nice easy guide somewhere i can talk him thru to do from scratch?

Has anyone here had their HOX replaced by HTC because of the wifi issue? If so did you receive a whole new unit or just repaired?

I just had mind back for this in record time, I phoned up Tuesday, the courier arrived Wednesday and it was back with me Friday!

It's the same handset (same IMEI/serial). Last time it went in for a dodgy screen, they replaced the whole phone.

Official JellyBean is rolling out at the moment. Should be a few weeks though from what I've been reading over at XDA.
I'm using Venom rom at the moment and it's simply excellent. Loads of tweaks and it's really stable. I've not had to reboot once since installing it.

Excellent thanks. How are you finding the battery life on this rom?

I think my one X has 'The WIFI issue' but am planning to recycle it soon for the N4....what happens if the wifi doesn't work when they test it. It seems to be an on an off thing

Why not just send it back to HTC for repair? Mine took 3 days, and is spot on now.. that way you won't need to worry about any potential money off when recycling..

I love my One X, I really do....but if there's still no JellyBean on it by the time the Nexus 4 is released then I'm switching.

And I like HTC, I really want them to succeed and do well. So many Samsung users don't realise the beauty of the One X. Sense isn't even that bad. But since HTC just can't pull their you know what together and give their fans the latest version of Andorid (Hello! Android is why we're buying these phones) then I can't stick with them.

Of course the stupid carriers are half the reason to blame as well....

At least we know the roll out has started, we just have to wait our turn.. I would imagine it'll be here well before Christmas..

If they hadn't even announced it, or hadn't started rolling it out, I'd be a little annoyed, but it's just a case of being a little patient!
