Hello all,

I just thought I'd start this thread to see how many people actually own this processor, as well as a useful place to come to see other peoples overclocks as well as benchmarks and/or general help with overclocking it or any other QX6700 related discussion.

Regards

good idea, but tbh don't think many people have one or are thinking of getting one due to dualcore not being fully supported by most apps let alone quad! kudos to who ever has one but i'm sure they are just insecure about the size of their e-penis rather than actually needing quadcore tech :p

Mine is doing wonders for me already. Use mine to render images inside of 3D content creation packages, mostly Maya. My render times are so quick now. Rendering using the industry standard mental ray renderer is also so much quicker too. Havn't had a chance to benchmark it yet but I shall get round to it soon enough once I've downloaded the apps. Can anyone tell me some good apps to bechmark it with? What's cinebench all about? Seen some people benching with this.

havn't oc'd it yet. I think I might get scared overclocking such an expensive CPU :D I will play around with it though. Is the unlocked multiplier worth experimenting with? Also, that scene that Cinebench renders, is it ray traced?

Depends what board you have, last time i checked the 975/680i boards dont give much more than 333fsb to the Quads so upping the multiplier will obviously help in this case.

Im still using the p5b deluxe at the moment.

cool.. so what did you get for the CPU benchmarks in 3d mark 06? :D

another QX user signing in.

glad to have you onboard. I have an 8800GTX as well, don't know I'll be overclocking it though. When I get home later I'll try bumping my QX6700 up to at least 3.0Ghz. Got 2GB of Corsair DDR2 6400C4 RAM with latencies of 4-4-4-12. Recon I'll be able to get to 3GHz? I'm not very experienced with overclocking. :o

well all you need to do is change the multiplier from 10 to 11 and you have 2.93Ghz, or 12 for 3.2Ghz, im betting you can do that at default volts too like me :p

good luck :)

obviously when you know what your doing you can up the fsb and work on that route, id aim for 10 x 333 initially.
