*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

I had a nice long session with my uncle's new iPad. I can confirm that the screen very very sharp and has nice balanced colours. OLED levels of black would have made it perfect.

I was surprised at how some 720p youtube vids still looked great and not like it was stretched too thin over so many pixels.

Another thing was that it was soo smooth when it came to scrolling and pinch to zoom - a very nice experience.

Same here, Carcassonne is great. You got any other recommendations?

If you're buying boardgame apps, I recommend Elder Sign, Neuroshima Hex and Ascension. Nightfall is due out soon as well, as is Commands and Colours: Ancients if you like something a bit heavier.

Lastly, everyone should own Caylus. It's one of the best zero-luck board games ever devised; the two-player game particularly is as deep as chess.

Cause for concern? I just tried messing around with some stock wallpaper pix on iOS iPhoto. Upon saving them to my camera roll they are corrupted. I can't find any others experiencing this just yet on various forums.

3.8/4.2mb png screens:

Weird, I was just messing with iPhoto and exported some edited photos to my camera roll and they all show fine.

Yer. On a desktop PC such corruption would tell me that I have GPU issues but I don't know what to make of this atm. Need to do more testing. So far saving/exporting to the camera roll always results in corruption.

Are you getting one now too? :p

I hate that when you charge it, like the iPads before it, you get that weird sensation on the back of it like you can feel the charge

It's the same with any iPad i've ever used. Both my original iPad and ipad2 did it, my dads iPad does it. Basically when it's plugged into the mains, rest it on a surface and with one hand, rub the back with one finger. It doesn't work when you have it held with both hands

I always notice it most when I'm using it in bed and holding it up with one hand

Just a note of caution to anyone considering the STM Skinny 3 case, I picked one up today and it seems that the auto power on/off when opening and closing the cover doesn't work as expected. After looking at some forums it seems that quite a few have the same problem. You guys in the UK might get a different batch, but it's still worth checking.

STM has just become aware that a small number of skinny3 cases have been sent out with a faulty magnet. A vast majority of the cases are in perfect working order but there is a small percentage that are not. We are currently developing an easy fix to solve the magnet issues, and will be able to send this to you within the next 7 days. Alternatively, we are more than happy to send you a replacement case as soon as we receive stock.
For additional information, please do not hesitate to contact STM directly at: [email protected]

I knew you'd like it. You're someone who will appreciate the very high quality apps for various things as well.

Up next: iPhone. :D

I do like the quality of some of the apps but I am missing a home and multitasking soft buttons. Great to have Sky Go and Sky Sports News working and they do look good. I'm sitting here reading ingear at the moment. :D

Don't forget to enable multitasking gestures in Settings/General.
