*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

Meh,

Just fill an iPad 2 box with rocks, then sell it to some idiot in a car park, its been proved before that it works.

Alternatively cut out an iPad sized peice of card and then print out a picture of an iPad and stick them together, also proven scam.

TBH I never understood why, if you were buying something of a dodgy guy in a carpark, you wouldn't open it up there and then to check it lol

I have been thinking about picking up the new iPad from the states in a few weeks time. However, would the WiFi + 4G model work correctly in the UK? Also what is the Apple warranty like?

The 4G iPad is compatible with 3G and HSDPA in the UK.

Apple normally limit warranty of mobile devices to the country or purchase i.e. the iPad WiFi would have worldwide coverage the iPad 4G wouldn't.

I think you're being silly now. How else is a website supposed to show you the difference between the screens then? It's not about holdi that close, it's about being able to demonstrate the pixel density difference. As I'm sure you know.

Weirdly I prefer the display on my 3G to 4.

For instance both of these are set to auto and it's much brighter and a nicer colour warmth for me than the IP4. Even if I adust the brightness manually I can't get it anywhere near as nice as the 3G out the box :(

Whoa - the Transformer Prime smacks it out of the park!

Staying at 1Ghz is disappointing also.

There's a lot of chatter now that the "new iPad" is primarily geared towards gaming.

It's plain to see that the highest selling section of the App Store is gaming. The main upgrades to the iPad relate to the GPU and the resolution of the display - the 2 main factors of gaming. This is clearly a push for Apple to further expand into the portable gaming market.

Disappointing it is that far behind, I guess they couldn't muster any more without affecting battery life or more likely wanted to leave room for future improvement. Benchmarks are just benchmarks though, granted that if the ipad had beaten the Prime everyone would be shouting about it in the opposite direction.

To be honest....its a much of a muchness....

Its about the experience...the apps etc are purpose coded for the A5X architecture, developers know the hardware specs and develop to them. Usually resulting in a smoother, slicker and speedier experience when comparing iOS Apps to Android Apps.

I have an android phone - SGS, and love playing with it, tailoring the interface and widgets etc....but not a day goes by without lag and force close errors and general sluggishness.

By comparison the iOS platform with specific hardware affords developers the opportunity to extract the highest performance from the CPU, GPU, RAM and chipset.

At the end of the day Windows vs Apple/ Consoles drew up the same arguments over the years and its always been the same.

A5X will provide a great iOS experience. Tegra 3 will provide a great Android experience.

Quit the penis envy. :D

Why are people surprised the Transformer Prime is faster? It's quad-core vs dual-core.

I know which will feel faster anyway. :p

My iPhone 4S screen has quite a warm/yellow tint - hope the iPad retina display isn't the same - much prefer a cooler looking screen.

Yep, that's a screen fault (they all vary a bit). You should get it replaced.

whoever gets a warm tint screen, take it back and get another one. I did that with my iphone because one time it came with a yellow tint, another time with a red and now i've got a neutral tint.

Cutting wrists? What is wrong with you people!
