Seeing as I passed my Prince 2 Practitioner course the other day I've decided to treat myself to a tablet. Played with me nephews ipad 2 on the weekend and really liked the form factor (how thin it was!) and the GUI - was surprised how well it worked for web browsing compared to the Hanspree Hanspad I own'ed for about 2 weeks.
As Anti-Apple as I am, Even I couldn't resist the 2048x1536 display! - hell yeah! - Got two booked for launch day - one for me, one for profit
Roll on friday! (I still don't like iphones)

And the original Mac had more pixels than a Big Mac has even today.

It's because of the metric system.
I believe the original Mac was 512x384 and there's no way any iPad icon is that large - it'd be a quarter the width of the whole screen.
There are 512x512 app icons but they're used for things like the App Store.

No, it depends on the pixel density (DPI) and is quite plausible

As anybody who pre-ordered a iPad and an Apple TV as one order had their status changed to anything other than "Processing, Shipping estimate 16 -19 March" ?
I could kick myself for ordering the Apple TV at the same time

Exactly why I didnt; saw thus and thought better of it - that and I'd pick up an aTV from a store this weekend (maybe ;p)

likeiwse, but i can wait - more keen to get my ATV tbh - new gadget, whereas my ipad 3 is replacing the 1 i use daily (which is still fine tbh)
So yeah, the numbers are impressive, but real world difference? I doubt any of you will notice between the 2, any book read on the iPad 2 will look exactly the same on the iPad 3, might just look a little shinier or higher contrast
my experience with 3G -> 4 would suggest otherwise... but we'll see
