So if you were to put it in a make do silicone skin for now would you say buy an ipad 1 or 2 skin? The screen protectors I presume will be the same as the ipad 2?

Definately a 2 skin. The 1 is a slightly different profile, not as curved. My folio from my 2 fitted the 3 ok but its a very slightly tighter fit.

For those with one already who owned the iPad 2, is it noticeably heavier and thicker? I'm hoping the extra weight and thickness can barely be detected.

Mine arrived at 10:30 this morning..sods law while I was on the loo!! Absolutely loving the screen so far, but need to get a better screen protector than the free one that came with the cheap case I bought on eBay. I can confirm that it fits in an iPad 2 hardback case though which makes life easier.

It's such an amazing improvement over the iPad 1 I've upgraded from..everything feels so much snappier!

Is it worth getting the 4g 16gb or just the wifi I have tethering on my phone anyway! Ideally I'd want more storage but can't afford it! And I'm hoping for a big change from iPad one

The thickness not so much but I do notice the extra 50g in weight, it feels heavier than the iPad 2. It's probably something I'll get use to though as I thought the iPad 2 was heavy when I got it.

you thought the ipad 2 was heavy? what do you expect the tablet to be? wafer thin and cloud like weight? You have really high expectations mate but not necessarily always a bad thing...

32gb wifi is cheaper than 16gb 4g ;)

Sounds to me like space is more of a priority for you. I personally went 32gb wi-fi, I know I rarely ever need internet connectivity outdoors. If I do, I'll tether.
