I'm happy with my 6 aside from camera quality. That's my biggest factor for going for the new iPhone. I enjoy photography and whenever I go out I have to take my mirrorless with me to capture nice shots whereas friends with S7 Edge/S8/7+ manage to take beautiful photos just off their phone!

If you're happy with your 6 aside from battery quality, Apple with replace the battery for you within about 20 mins for £70.

I actually looked in to getting the battery replaced the other week. I suppose a better statement for my position would be my rubbish battery is making me look to upgrade earlier than I would otherwise. Even then I'd probably be looking to upgrade in the next year or so regardless so I figure, if this iphone is all singing and dancing as rumoured, then the £80 might as well be put to it rather than a battery.

The interesting thing is the size of the on/off button on the right-hand side. Implies something has changed, maybe fingerprint reader on the button?

I haven't been keeping up to date on the rumours but thought that the rumour was that it would be an in screen finger print scanner with the screen being a taptic home button too? I don't know if that has been debunked though. It could also be the power button has become the home button the face can be all screen or something.

Rumours within rumours. One of the rumours is that they haven't been able to get the fingerprint reader to work through the display.

Pretty much what the phone is going to look like (minus case).

Wonder how it's going to work for those on the AUP like myself?

Personally there is nothing they can do to the 8 that will make me excited enough to pay any money for it - The 7 was so underwhelming for me that I jumped from a 6 to an SE.

An upgraded SE would be interesting.

I'm waiting with interest to see if there's an upgraded SE for my technophobe wife, who's still just about chugging along on a 5C.

I have given up on upgrading phones constantly. I don't even want to know how much I have spent getting the latest and greatest over the last 10 years. iOS, Andriod, Symbian, Windows mobile, been there done it.

Technology had moved on considerably in the first half of the last decade but not so much in the second. The jump from an Nokia N95 or a HTC Tytn to iPhone 5 is huge. Not so much between a 5 and 7.

The one thing that has happened over the last 5 years is pricing is just getting out of control but more and more people that shouldn't be spending that kind of cash on a phone are lapping them up (that's another thread though).

Apple and Samsung have only really been perfecting the design the last 2-3 years.

I'll be sticking with my 6S until it dies or Apple stop supporting it.

Perhaps I am just getting old...

The Mrs. is the only one locked to IOS in our household, currently running a 6S 64GB, which cost only £520 in December 2015 and still perfectly fine for everything, and is in excellent condition still. So short of it being nicked/lost/damaged beyond repair Apple can take a long walk off a short pier if they think they are gonna get anywhere near a grand off us, you can't make something twice as good, but think they might be able to charge twice the price?

They can and they do, there's a reason for that

Gotta hav tha new one innit bruv

Well, not the only one, my missus will buy one a few weeks after one of her mates gets one because she's an idiot that's what she wants.

Just a 120Hz screen would make me switch. Love it on the iPad Pro.

Will we be able to watch the apple event through Windows? I don't have a Macbook anymore.

From Apple:

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. Streaming via Apple TV requires an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) with software 6.2 or later or an Apple TV (4th generation).

I'm still really interested in what they plan to do with Touch ID. I can't see them embedding it in the screen and I can't see then ditching it entirely either. On the side maybe?

All signs point to permanently ditched so far. Personally I would love the under screen Touch ID, that would feel truly next gen.
