*** The Official LG Star Thread****

Read the reviews and the phone looks to be quite good apart from the doggy software. My other concern with the phone is the small amount of RAM as only 384mb for the OS & apps doesn't sound that much.

So basically, LG have done a Motorola and wrecked the phone from a software point of view.

Im not an LG fan at all, this isn't going to change anything. This phone may, however, be saved by the community, if you can get a flawless stock Gingerbread running on it, it'd be fairly decent.

So, another rubbish Android handset... next :o

I wouldn't say Motorola wreck their phones, they just add too much bloat (HTC sense hit with the ugly stick :D) Overall Motos Android implementation works well and is very reliable. This LG looks properly buggy not just laggy :(

Its going to need a bit more than Launcher pro by the sound of it :p

This with a stock Gingerbread ROM working flawlessly as I said above will be quite a formidable phone though I'd imagine.

Hopefully LG will read the reviews and add that as an option to download and flash, or someone from LG will 'leak' it...

1080p is far too jumpy for my liking, 720p is spot on. Screen is LCD only on the finished phone :( and normal res too.

I think the Atrix is looking like the phone to have!

i agree. the Atrix is looking like my phone of choice so far, with the docks and addons that will be available for it from the off too. Plus a very good battery i hear. however rumours of a desire2 to be announced at the wmc in Barca next week + loads of other new phones.

all this overlay and own branding of android could **** this whole android story up. seriously this LG with stock Android should just be the fastest and most powerful phone out, but they trash the dam thing. why cant the likes of Samsung and LG be happy with there branding on the phone instead of hacking the os to bits....

surely they would find it easier to push out updates as well?

I would love to see one of these companies just bring out a stock pure android phone and see there sales saw.

They won’t do it because to them the brand alone isn’t a USP and without their added crap they won’t convince your average punter to buy the phone. Benchmarks are there just for geeks, the vast majority of the buying public don't give two hoots. It’s a shame but one can only hope that one day they will release a vanilla product but somehow I can’t see it happening.

I'm keeping an eye on the HTC yeah, if anything it will be XDA's choice I guess.

yes rumours of a desire2, and to me HTC sense is the best of a bad bunch, however i do prefer stock! its hows its meant to be!

be nice if google just release as an installable exe like windows, you can just install it on any device with the minimum spec :)

Yup, looks extremely crap with the LG xxxx on it. For me it's between a HTC dual core mobile or the atrix, would rather have HTC as they do have the better UI/software than all the others but would rather have stock android a million times more. Plus there mobiles look the best and the hardware is excellent as well as having the best developing community, plus just being the better company when it comes to updating there android handsets.

Don't like the look of the LG either, plus would want to get a better quality screen, especially when the screen is going to be 4"+, with the bigger battery.

Also the reason why it might look so laggy (probably still be laggy due to that crap they put on though) and slow is due to android not fully supporting dual cores, dual core applications etc. yet:

So when 2.4 does come out, hopefully we will see a slight improvement in battery life, performance and some other applications.

Atrix looks like it should beat this over the head, but will it follow Motorola's policy of not allowing any user hacks and mods, like their previous phones have? If so, fail :(
