I bought a Macbook 2 weeks ago, and the nice girl in the store in Birmingham hinted that there was no need to wait for Leopard... Apple are feeling kind again ;)

They usually only give you 14 days to ring up, so unless they're feeling very kind or a lot of people >14days <28 days are complaining then you've had it.

Installing iLife on a new install of Tiger is easy.. in fact it comes on the Tiger install DVDs.. You just select which components you want to install.

Does anyone know whether it's one copy of Leopard per physical machine in terms of the license? I have both a Mac Mini and my main Macbook Pro that I'd like to upgrade. Having a couple of licenses or so with each copy of the OS would be really nice :)

This was discussed in another thread..

Some people were arguing about paying for the family pack (as OS X has no official protection), but I say if you are going to go legit then it's a nice price to pay (for the peace of mind).

...better than the Windows Licenses anyway :p

Anyone know what the deal with installing iLife is if i do a fresh install over my Tiger install on my MBP?

If you do a fresh install of Leopard you will lose iLife. However, using Pacifist you can extract iLife 06 (and anything else you need) from your Tiger restore disks and install freely. I did this going from Panther to Tiger and expect it to work again...

If you do an archive and install you can just drag them back from the archived Apps folder.

Leopard seed-update has been released to developers :)

Apple has released a new seed update to developers running the latest versions of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard via Mac OS X's Software Update mechanism.

The 9A557/9A559 Seed Update includes fixes to wireless networking and RAW image viewing in the latest development build of Mac OS X Leopard. The update is also being used to test new features with in the Software Update mechanism itself.

Apple seeded 9A559 to developers 10 days ago, which introduced a number of bug fixes and user interface tweaks. Today's update does not change the Leopard seed number.

Apple had previously announced that it was going to be releasing Leopard in October, but no specific release date has been set. Several reports have suggested that Apple is considering these latest builds as release candidates for the final version of Leopard.

Apple store is offline for updates, as per when something new comes out.

Doubt it'll be Leopard, but you never know!

EDIT: Back up now, can't see anything different.

How much are we expecting to pay for Leopard when it arrives, because i'm stalling buying a new mac mini at the moment. I'm in Las Vegas and holding out for my next few trips over to Orlando this month, waiting to see if it is released before the anticipated 26th etc of October.

I would expect to pay the current price of Tiger.

Normal - £89
Educational discount - £58.75

Lol, well in that case i think I'll go and blow £400 now then. At least it's not as much as the windows vista scenario hundreds of pounds. :D

You might want to consider that Leopard is coming in 5 installments...

Leopard Home Basic
Leopard Home Premium
Leopard Home Server
Leopard Ultimate
Leopard Business

Oh, wait... ;)

Ive asked this before and IIRC i didnt get an answer... hopefully someone could help me out this time...

The current standard Tiger price is £89 which is reduced to £58.75 for damn lazy students. (its also £58.75 using my EPP)

Can anyone confirm the student price for the Tiger Family pack... using my EPP its £139 which is the same as standard retail.
