Netgear DG834N.

The thing is, airport will say I've got full connection and then a page will tell me I'm not connected to a network. If I refresh the page, or go to another page, it works again. Maybe it's a safari issue.

Try this

Open terminal and type:
(for leopard): dscacheutil -flushcache
(for tiger): lookupd -flushcache

The dns cache is getting corrupted (allegedly) and this will clear it out.
I personally use open DNS for my DNS needs and have not seent his issue.

Cheers artax, I've done it so we will see if it works soon.

WotDa what would you recommend as a replacement? I've always used Netgear (except 2 years ago when I needed a cable modem and used a linksys but it was terrible compared to the Netgear).

If you're looking for a ADSL modem sans Wi Fi then look no further than a Thompson Speedtouch 546v6.

They're highly configurable and you can use a software tool (DMT TOOL) to force the BT exchange to give you more speed.

Using bog standard settings I used to connect at 1312kbps, now using DMT i'm at 2016kbps solid :)

I have mine connected to an AirPort Extreme base station via CAT6 (to send out my Wi Fi) and the setup is perfect. Keeps the connection down as low as 2dB.

You can get them reconditioned on the net for £13 too.

Would you like to see what a Speedtouch router did to my profile?

I thought you might. :)

As you see in the pink box, from the end of October to January the profile went missing... But magically re-appeared the week I was down for Christmas.

The blue box details the time at which I wasn't managing my Linksys router. :)

Remember Time Capsule is just a router, so you still need a modem if you don't already.

I have a cable modem so all is good, but 10.5.2 has completely made the wireless problem worse why cant apple just fix it its a common enough problem, wish i never got the macbook now

Ok...

Now im getting annoyed!

Things are now going wrong with 10.5.2...

Mac Messenger won't save convos, drops the connector and crashes.
Infact nearly everything locks up, graphics are slow and its just generally annoying!

Grrrrr!

Installed the graphics update?

My MBP has locked up completely since the update, the mouse moves but nothing is responsive. Don't know if its got anything to do with the update or just a general problem.

Enjoyed my first benefit of the update.

Internet locked up. Turned Airport off and selected my network again - it froze with the network (in the top bar) blue-d out where the network icon is. Then prompted me for my pass-code. Entered it, network timed out.

Went down, restarted the router, came back up and same thing. Restarted the computer and tried again - same thing, rebooted the router again and tried - nothing.

Walked into my sisters room to turn on the Windows machine and it picked up full signal and started working again.

Sounds like the router to me.

I assumed it was the router messing around but the whole os became horribly laggy and slow, verging on non-responsive at the same time - which made me think it was software based.
