*** The Official macOS Tahoe (26) Thread ***

I Can't see it - it just says arrange icons by grid or list
It should eventually appear.

Whilst this is a fairly big update, I can't help but feel as though the next OS (not sure of name) will be much more significant as I understand the last of the Intel devices will be dropped and it will basically be an ARM-only deployment. So it could be smaller, leaner, faster and perhaps unlock some new features that weren't possible whilst still supporting Intel. Maybe a closer alignment to the mobile OSes (for better or worse...).

Just installed it this evening. I cant help but think I'm using a derivative of Palm WebOS in terms of the rounded-ness and looks.

Can't say I'm wowed at the moment. Installed just fine though.

The ars technica review lists a whole bucketload of stuff in Tahoe that doesn't work on Intel Macs.

I've noticed a few niggles appear which seem to have disappeared after a restart. It'll be interesting to see if they re-appear.

1) being the Show iPhone apps option in the Apps window. It definitely wasn't there on the first boot after install, but after a restart now is. On the restart, it did seem to do a short progress bar update, then fully boot.

2) Unraid connection performance ... awful on the original boot after installing Tahoe. Had to recheck the .conf files which were all correct. Restart seems to have cleared that, and all back to normal at the moment.

So, to me, it does seem that after you've install Tahoe, and restarted into the new system, it may be worth doing another reboot after a while.

One thing that annoys me is the media controls are on the bottom of Apple Music now. Not the end of the world but something I keep forgetting.

Well, I do like the visual change and I’ll be rather honest with you.

After about few days of usage, including a big session on Logic, I can’t feel a difference.

I can’t say as I’ve notice any new features. Remarkably odd.

Does anyone know how to make that hideous clock font size smaller on the lock screen?

Easy to do on iOS but can't seem to find anything for the Mac.

So is it wise to wait for .1 .2... or those that have it installed think its good out the gates?

if I install it will be on a MacBook Pro (2021 M1pro)

If anyone is using VMware Fusion, there is an issue with it (specifically 13.6.4 and Tahoe). Related to Fusion crashing when waking from sleep. There is a new release of Fusion due out soon which from initial testing looks to solve it.

God it's awful to look at, but I'm sure I will get used to it.

Anyway, private relay feature. Never given me an issue until today. Now on every email I get ' your network preferences prevent content from loading privately' I have to load content on every email. Only way I can get round this is to turn off private relay which seems a bit odd as I never had this before.

It entirely depends on your use case.

I've had issues with my Wacom drawing tablet, and I believe there is a major issue with Autodesk software (AutoCAD etc).

But Microsoft 365 apps and the Adobe Suite are all working fine for me.

I've run into a few odd niggly issues like making an SMB connection via a folder shortcut not working, but there's an easy workaround.

I would say if you're just using the standard suite of Apple apps, you should be fine. If you rely on specific software, or hardware with additional drivers, definitely search the web to make sure users aren't reporting issues before you upgrade.

Thanks, light user really just browsing, emails… all using Apple apps. Might check a few apps to make sure no issues though and update at the weekend.

I'm really considering reinstalling macOS from scratch. I have so much junk on my machine from 3 years of adding and removing things that I think I'll be able to free up quite a bit of space and as an added bonus it'll relieve some boredom :D.

Any way to get the Brightness and Volume Up/Down to appear back into the middle of the screen, rather than just below the system icons (and or bigger)? Really, really annoying having it moved after all these years.

The only bug I've had was with my external webcam defaulting to 5fps, which was fixed with a Chromium update.

But I think visually, I prefer Sequioa. Just felt so refined, so carefully designed. This feels very much like a V1 of a new design philosophy and I'm not sure that it's actually needed.
