No they don't fill the exact same roll, one is ultra book with tablet compatibility although rubbish compatibility. The other is a tablet with resonable ultra book compatability.

You go get a 13.3" tablet and see if your thumbs reach the middle, unless you have giant hands they wont. Then weight and thickness is rubbish as well.

1.9lbs vs 3.1lbs.

how heavy is a macbook air `3inch?

Hhhhmmm, Looking at prices on eBay I might manage £550 after fees for selling my Pro 128 + Touch Cover.

New 256GB one is £1038 + another keyboard (£ 109.99)

So £1147.99 or £599.99 over my current setup.

Not sure this is great value.:(

I just went onto MS's preorder site to see what kind of prices there are talking for us in the UK. 799 pounds for the 128GB Surface Pro 2 I thought wasn't too bad (though it really needs to come with cover at that kind of money), but once I upped the storage capacity to 256GB it jumped over 200 pounds in price to 1039.

If MS had priced the 256GB version at the price of the 128GB one they'd have completely nailed it price wise. 256GB SSD's aren't that expensive these days so we shouldn't be having to pay through the nose for it on a tablet.

JL store? if so i may take a look. They selling them already?

It was John Lewis. I had only gone there to see fi I could test a type keyboard, as my touch keyboard still frustrates me when typing up docs. and the sales guy started talking to me about the Surface 2. He then showed me on their computer their listings for the Pro 2 with prices matching what MS did announce for the 64GB and 128GB. The 256GB was listed as 899 but these weren't official prices and you couldn't order. I suspect that they were just placeholders until MS announced the prices.

Are MS offering a trade in of gen 1 Surface RT against the new one?

That's the only way I'll consider getting one. My current Surface does everything I want it to. A bit more speed wouldn't go amiss though.

i dont mind paying top doller for this as it is a toss between a macbook air or this.

POB, how much would you want for your Pro? I probably can't afford it mind, but worth an ask :).

Hi, I think I'm keeping it.

Might get a Surface 2 to compliment it.

The price difference between the old Pro and the new one is too great. I'd have to the get the 256/8GB otherwise its not an upgrade.

I might wait and see how the prices change in the next few months. I still see them maybe not selling as many as they want to, as I feel they still have the problem that not enough people know about them/know why they'd get one over an iPad, which could hopefully bring on another £80 price cut :p

Sorry to disappoint, before the site stopped loading the Pro the prices were:

64GB £719
128GB £799
256GB £1039 (with 8GB RAM)
512GB £1439 (with 8GB RAM)

I did take screen shots if anyone wants proof but it isn't something
worth lying about.

Makes you wonder what the guys are MS are smoking with prices like that.

The USB 3.0 and micro HDMI ports, however, are hidden by a cover that dangles and destroys the minimalist design. Unfortunately, the microSD slot, placed at the top right corner on the rear of the device, also gets the same cover treatment. Word of advice - get a tweezer ready, as the microSD card is very tricky to extract from its housing slot.

Sony claims a five-hour battery life for the Vaio Tap 11

Seems like it's a piece of garbage
