*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

I was happy with the Zelda paid upgrades as they both play flawlessly now and look incredible. I have a large digital Switch library so I am also happy with the improvements to many of those titles as well. New games I’ve bought MKW, DK Bananza and now Metroid. More new games than I’ve bought on the PS5 in the same time period. And over 100 hours with the upgraded ToTK. All in all pretty happy.

Yeah, I've yet to play Zelda (as the wife has been hogging the carts lol), but Pokemon alone was enough to convince of how much of a step up it could be.
We've already got MKW, Pokemon ZA (x2 - wasn't making the same mistake as Arceus and just buying one copy), Guardians of Azuma, Raidou, Bravely Default HD, Metroid Prime 4, Daemon X Machina and Hyrule Warriors Switch 2 versions, and I'm intending to grab Kirby and Mario Party 2 (and trade in the OG Switch versions) lol

I also bought the new Metroid after watching the Digital Foundry review, it sounds excellent.
The only problem is I ordered it from Shopto where it is backordered, though as long as it comes by Christmas, I'll be happy.

Been playing through Metroid Prime 4 and it's.. another one? A really good one but nothing out of the ordinary from the first few hours. It looks better than ever but it feels like you could play the old games and get 90% of the same experience.

I'm looking for a new game, narrowed down to DK Bonanza, Kirby or Pokémon. I'm agnostic between them so anyone care to give me pointers as to best choice in your opinion please?

I'd be tempted to say Kirby...just.
Reason being its an overhauled Switch 1 title through and through, so it runs really well, and got a nice resolution uplift. The expansion included in the Switch 2 version is also exclusive; and it's just overall a nice game with some cool stuff.

DK however is fantastic fun, albeit can be a LITTLE one note, but its still VERY fun, and frankly there is so much destruction it would have run like **** on Switch 1 or had to be pared massively back.
Pokemon ZA is actually much better than I was expecting on Switch 2. It runs so much better than Switch 1, and looks considerably better due to the DLSS implementation on top. The real time combat is a blast, but the game feels a bit unfinished, and whilst the map has some depth to it, its still limited to one medium sized city.

If you're agnostic, the real answer might well be, whichever you can get for the best price lol

Thread is pretty slow compared with the Switch 1 thread… I still have no interest myself, too expensive for what you get and no must have games.

Is interest waning generally, or is that just my perception?
Even when I saw it at £370 with MKW in Costco last week I didn't pull the trigger, hopefully they do a similarly good deal in future when there's a better library of dedicated titles.

Same. I had one on pre-order initially, but cancelled it before release, as I don’t have the time to keep up with all the games that I want to play on PS5.

I’d like to play DK Bananza at some point (loved Mario Odyssey), but there’s not much else out atm (or on the horizon) that interests me. I’ll probably pick one up in a few years for the performance upgrades to the Switch 1 games that I’m yet to play.

Not played MP1 for a while and then only in handheld on holiday. Playing it through my TV is such a better experience. I am always a bit in awe of the level design in these games it’s just so, so good.

Which Kirby game do you mean ? Most Kirby games are platformers in essence but the new Air Riders game is a different genre.

Building up a decent collection, I got one of those fold up game case things. Got Suikoden coming today (s2 version). AS I have a backlog I am just getting the games on my list when I can get a deal.

This has to be the most fun Rainbow Road I've ever driven on. Previous games I just never liked, including 8; now, it's one of my favourite tracks on MKW!

Digital Foundry, from a technical point of view, call it pretty much the best title on Switch 2 haha
Prime 4 looks good but I disagree. There's some nice details and art direction is great, and having options for 4k and 120 FPS is nice, but graphically it's a bit inconsistent. MKW and DKB are more impressive game's techincally imo, all things considered.

Yeah, sounds like the obvious issue with it being an "open world" game is whats letting it down. No idea quite why they did that but it doesn't look like it detracts too much.
I feel the open world does it's job well enough, adds some variety and it's fun to engage with... if a little limited. It also helps make backtracking(the little that is required) more fun. Biking around feels good too.

I'd actually say the main things letting Prime 4 down are just that the combat and puzzle elements haven't evolved much at all since the trilogy. They moved away from the backtracking quite a bit in favour of a more linear experience when you first go through areas. I think that was actually a good idea, but the combat and puzzles haven't improved enough to quite make up for the fun hook of regularly unlocking previously blocked rooms/areas in the previous games.

I just finished the game on normal and had a great time though, I found it very moreish, a must play if you're a fan of the first 3 games imo. There really are some great stand-out moments, bosses were great. If it had released 15 years ago it would have been rated closer to the first 3 game's I think, I prefer it to Prime 3 at least.

I see tomb raider 1 to 3 remastered has a great deal price on the store.
But it suffers from some screen problems on the switch 2 :(
What the chances these will be fixed ?
