*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

I know that nintendo consoles arent about whats under the hood but if the Mario Kart gameplay is a showcase of its power then I think this switch will run out of steam even quicker than the first one.

Don't think you'll be installing steamOS any time soon but hopefully some other exploit allows you to install homebrew.

Lots of low qualiy textures, jaggies and overall a soft looking image.
Thats from the official video on nintendo youtube channel so want to be proved wrong with a high quality video but right now I dont see how it looks much better then what the current switch can handle.
 
If Mario Kart still hasn't got a SP mode like Diddy Kong Racing then Nintendo are just stupidly lazy.. will they really rehash the same thing for the umpteenth time? Likely.

Wonder if they'll bring back some classics like Pilot Wings.
 
Wonder if its a standard LED, as in IPS these days, or whether perhaps its MiniLED. They've not clarified I dont think, but a decent MiniLED panel could be a fantastic middle ground between OLED and LED, without the lifespan issues of OLED, but without the black/contrast issues of LED.

One can hope, as I'd really have rather got OLED again, but I'd be happy with MiniLED.

Diddy King Racing was amazing. Would love a remake. Some of the boss battles were hard like that Octopus.

I could see a pilot wings game coming to be honest.

Nintendo can be very lazy at times. Wouldn't surprise me if its basically an enhanced, complete MK8, ergo basically a Switch 1; we need to wait and see what games developed for the hardware actually look like. Once we see the proper April direct with hopefully a lot more game info, we should have a better idea of what to expect on release. The machine has considerably better specs than the OG switch so no excuse for there not to be a decent visual upgrade.

Also wouldnt surprise me if its a 1280x800 screen again knowing Nintendo, which'd explain a relatively soft image and jaggies. It could also be the video, as even the official video on the Nintendo account, despite being 1080p looked kinda bad with a lot of compression artifacts and blocking etc. We need to wait and see.

That seems pretty... meh (and little chance of it being sooner than 6 months+ by the look of it)

Think I'll just grab my boy the OLED for now, maybe pick up the Switch 2 OLED when it comes out in a couple of years!

If you do you can get good deals on games from eBay. Most of my physical games are second hand.
 
How did they take such a step backward on the screen? Bezels are WAY bigger again and potentially no OLED?
