OK, I feel we need something light hearted in here at the moment, so how about we create an official OcUK suggested calendar for F1, and see how many Tilke Drones make the cut ;).

The idea is you suggest your top 15 tracks that you would like to see on the F1 calendar, and I will then collate all the suggestions together and rank them by popularity, and take the top 15 to 20 and make an ideal calendar out of them.

The rules are thus:

  • The circuit must be available to host a race in 2016.
  • No fictional, long gone, or proposed yet not yet built tracks.
  • The track must be F1 ready for 2016. So if it requires upgrading it should only be safety and facility updates, rather than a complete overhaul (i.e. Imola is fine, but Knockhill isnt)
  • Order isnt important, just list 15
  • 15 tracks only, and 15 unique tracks with no repeats (unless its a different layout)
  • If you are unsure if a track could be brought up to F1 grade, ask. If enough people think it will we can include it.
  • Check some curve balls in. Everyone is going to suggest the top tracks. :)

OK. So my 15 are:

Silverstone
Monaco
Imola
Portimaou
Laguna Seca
Sau Paulo
Suzuka
Monza
Spa
Montreal
Brands Hatch GP (requires potentially a lot of work?)
Nordscheif (again, lots of work)
Istanbul
Bathurst
Sebring

I don't see why not? They seem so keen to please the "fans", why wouldn't they listen to a fan voted calendar suggestion? Ill dig out his email address...

Ok, thought of 15, hopefully haven't forgotten something glaringly obvious...

Monaco
Suzuka
Spa
Portimao
Montreal
A1 Ring
Interlagos
Silverstone
Monza
Bathurst
Hochenheim (old)
Imola
Laguna Seca
Istanbul
Nurburgring

Anything that doesn't include Monaco, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Valencia, Singapore, Korea and possibly Sochi after this weekend works for me.

My list:-

Imola
Monza
Spa
Gilles Villeneuve
Interlagos
Fuji
Istanbul
Sepang
Magny-Cours
Mexico City (Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez)
Silverstone (although I preferred the original circuit)
A1 Ring
Road America or Watkins Glen
Albert Park
Brands Hatch GP

In no particular order:

Belgium - Spa
Monaco - Monaco
Italy - Monza
Great Britain - Silverstone
Brazil - Interlagos
Spain - Mugello Circuit
USA - Circuit Of The Americas
Canada - Circuit Mont-Tremblant
Germany - Nurburgring GP
Japan - Suzuka
Australia - Bathurst
Turkey - Istanbul Park
China - Shanghai International Circuit
Portugal - Algarve International/Portimao
USA - Laguna Seca

JRS's 15 race 2016 calendar:

1) Brazilian GP - Autódromo José Carlos Pace
2) Mexican GP - Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez
3) Spanish Grand Prix - Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
4) Monaco Grand Prix - Circuit de Monaco
5) French Grand Prix - Circuit Paul Ricard
6) British Grand Prix - Donington Park
7) German Grand Prix - EuroSpeedway Lausitz
8) Belgian Grand Prix - Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
9) Italian Grand Prix - Autodromo Nazionale Monza
10) Portuguese Grand Prix - Algarve International Circuit
11) US Grand Prix East - Daytona International Speedway
12) Canadian Grand Prix - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
13) US Grand Prix West - Sonoma Raceway
14) Japanese Grand Prix - Fuji Speedway
15) Australian Grand Prix - Adelaide Street Circuit

Couple of controversial choices in there I guess.

Interesting idea. I think only Bathurst, Nordschelife, Laguna Seca, and Jarama would require bringing up to date for F1 from my list.

  2. Autódromo José Carlos Pace (Interlagos - Brazil)
  3. Bathurst (Australia)
  4. Brands Hatch (UK)
  5. Circuit de la Sarthe Bugatti Circuit (Le Mans - France)
  6. Circuit de Monaco (Monaco)
  7. Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium)
  8. Circuito del Jarama (Spain)
  9. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Montreal - Canada)
  10. Circuit Paul Ricard (Marseille - France)
  11. Hungaroring (Hungary)
  12. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (United States)

I have no place for Monaco in my list. I resented Rosberg cruising round at half speed in 2013, the year I decided to visit. Nor Monza.

3. Donnington Park
4. Monza

So long as Moses' season ending finale is held on Rainbow Road, I think we can make an exception :p.

Some interesting curve balls coming out of the woodwork. Hopefully enough people will vote for some of them to make it to the final list.

I think I will leave this open until next week, and then collate all the results.
