The Official OcUK Linux Users List

Wow, there's a LOTTA 'buntu users on here! Haven't seen any Suse users yet? I get on "OK" with OpenSUSE but it's too buggy for my tastes and the package management is silly slow even for RPM! SLED on the other hand, I fell in love with :D But at US$50 a YEAR?! It's more expensive than Vista, so no thanks :D

Actually I'll make a thread about that - the only point of this post was (and is) - "Are there any Suse users to add to this list?" It's high profile and I'm sure some newbies would be trying it and wind up needing advice. FWIW in the meantime I have experience of 10.1, 10.2, 10.3 and 11b if anyone needs help before the real cavalry arrives lol

Buggy... yeah, that's kinda the nature of OpenSuSE** - but if you want a decent package manager for it, try Smart, which is much faster and a lot more like apt or pacman (I think you can get it from YaST...) apart from SuSE being a nice, easy desktop - it uses way too many capital letters to be credible!!! ;)

FWIW - I used SuSE 9.0, 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 10.0 and 10.1

** Personal opinion - don't flame me, it's a very nice desktop!!

I like ubuntu but configuring the 8800 gts is hell, no distro does a better than fedora. I think Opensuse can do it well but i getting compiz to work later on is long.

Nice to see fellow Fedora users coming out of the woodwork :D madman045, don't forget since v7 it's simply "Fedora" and not "Fedora Core" ;) .walls, I'll try Smart next time I fire up OpenSUSE in VM - cheers!
