** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

I was the same, having used the US layout with International US profile for a few hours now there is a difference but it is not annoying like I thought it would be. Just a matter of getting used to it. Only things that stick out are:

Miss the enter key occasionally due to it being smaller
Have to press alt+shift+4 for the £
Hash and @ keys moved shift+2 or 3
shift+apostrophe then next letter or space for "
apostrophe then next letter or space for '(apostrophe)

Decisions decisions. The Choc Mini is far cheaper. Have noticed the seller has dropped the price by 5% so can get it delivered for £63. Ultimately it is for gaming and being left handed (mouse in left) and still using WASD with my right hand, the rest of the keyboard is pretty redundant. I suppose I can get used to the above intricacies. It is half the price of the Filco as well.

Is the Choc Mini just plug in and go or do I need some drivers?

What is one to do?

the main benefit of the noppoo is the fact that it's compact and the F layer is right by the num layer, meaning if you play games like WoW, RTS etc, you can reach them without any real stretch of the fingers.

So, if like me and are a paladin healer, I can target my group with ease just by moving a finger up 1 and pressing F1-5 and then 3 for casting DL. One handed gaming ***.

ok I have installed the o ring dampers and they make quite abit of difference, when I bottom out there is no sound of the plastic hitting the actual switch now so it sounds less "clicky"
The feel is still light and responsive just that when I bottom out there is less sound.
If people are interested I can do a video of the sound difference of the keys that have the o rings installed and ones that don't.

How are you finding it generally? A favourable reply may well push me to order one. :D

I like it keys feel good, I noticed some minor little scratches on the spacebar so wouldn't say its as well built as a filco but you really need to look hard to see it.

The compact size means the spacebar is quite short and it has a sharp edge to it, would be better if it was rounded imo.

Its nice having media keys with the compact size and for gaming its nice having the F keys directly above the number keys.

Its a good keyboard for the price if you can put up with its quirks.

I might pick up a tenkeyless filco at some point to compare it as you can always send it back under distance selling.

Thinking of returning my new Filco keyboard if possible through whatever act it is..

It's a lot nicer to type on then a normal keyboard, so much easier. But a few things really bugging me, there isn't much space between the bottom of the space bar and the end of the keyboard (a matter of mm) compared to my Logitech G11 which has atleast an inch. Therefore my thumb isn't resting anywhere and I keep pressing space by accident. I keep pressing caps lock by accident as well, the G11 has like a gap between A and Caps Lock.. Also missing the numpad quite a bit.

Might get used to these things over time, I don't know. I did write an assignment though yesterday with the keyboard so it has had some use..

Do I think its worth £115 of my money though, not really..

Well I have just my Filco delivered and first impressions with typing is it does feel better. Something that I am trying to teach my self is not push the keys as hard as I don't need to anymore!

Will take a bit of getting used to but I do like the feel every time I push a key. I now see what people say about rubber domes feeling mushy!

Overall the Filco does seem very well built with a nice weight to the keyboard itself.

Welcome to the club mate :)

I never have these problems and the keyboard felt weird to me at first. I do use the Filco wrist rest also which is great, might be an idea for you.

Falling to like it more and more now actually. After I used my G11 I was like ouch my fingers hurt! I looked at the smaller version of the leather wrist rest, with vat and postage it was like £50 though iirc!

Yeah, it's expensive, a shame you didn't buy it with the keyboard to save on shipping costs. Maybe look for a second hand one? You could ask on geekhack classfields forum (like the Market here)

I'll check out the forum, though still regretting buying the larger KB with the numpad really. Shame I can't switch!
