** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

I was looking at keyboards yesterday.
It seems that the cheapest mechanical full size keyboard available will set you back around £60.

My own mechanical keyboard has yet to break. I've had it since 2000 (I think) and as yet, it hasnt skipped a beat. I would like to buy a BlueMX keyboard...and I do prefer Cherry brand, though I've heard good things about the Filco. The problem with Filco is the cost (approx £120).

I was also looking at QPAD MK-50, which can be had for around £75. Has anybody got opinions on this one?

Qpads are good quality. I disliked mine though as it felt lightweight and flimsy compared to my Filco.

Filcos have a metal base in them iirc that makes them feel heavier.

Aren't these mechanical keyboards extremely loud? I can hear my room mate typing through the wall, he has a razer (blackwidow I think), just very off putting for me if they are loud like that.

Depends on what switches he uses, and as said above you can get o-rings to dampen the sound if people bottom out (i.e type like they want to bash the hell out of their keyboard)

My CM Trigger has just died. Annoyed because it can't be more than 5 months old with average use. Now to find the receipt and get it sorted. Anyone else had any issues with theirs ?

I just had my quickfire rapid replaced as it was losing connection after a few minutes (probably due to a faulty usb port).

Managed to get it replaced with one of the new versions that doesn't have visible branding on it apart from on the back of it.

Quest for you guys.

I have £50 to spend on a new mechanical keyboard, my old A102W has sadly died on me after a year of heavy usage.

I want it to make noise, and I would like a numeric pad!

Was just about to say the same! My G510 gaming keyboard ain't programming material :(

Need a mechanical keyboard between 50~80 quid.

Petty sure that's impossible.

I'm not sure but £80 might be doable. Have you checked the prices on ocuk?

QPad mostly (which fits the price range). Seen a lot of mixed reviews on them.
I do have my eye on the TT eSports keyboard shown in CES 2013 (that sexy red one ;)) so I may wait till then 'cause I'll have the monies.

Either a Cherry own, or the QPad Mk50 for full size and low cost. Shame there isn't anyone who sell Rosewill keyboards over here. Current shipping costs make other keyboards better value atm.

So glad to get my replacement quickfire kb (blacks) back, it's like night and day.

What did you have before blacks? i actually had to return a m50 with reds because the buttons were much too easy to press and I had a load of typos because of it which was irritating. Bought a CM Storm Quickfire with black switches and not looked back. feel perfect for typing and gaming on.

Tried blacks, typing is much better than the reds, which are seriously easy to press. Currently trying to source a " FKBN87ML/EW2" Filco as 'they' sell them elsewhere, but only have the red switch version on their site. Bonkers.
