Is it possible to purchase the 7 pro 5g simfree in the UK or is it contract only via EE?

Yeah it made no difference for me i just used the debug mode and that worked.
I can only find it locked to EE or Vodafone online. I managed to grab a Sim-Free 7 Pro 5G on the MM, so looking forward to it when it comes next week.
any reason for the 5g version? you need to buy a 5g contract and be in one of the very very few areas that are testing it currently.

I'm really not sure it'll be worth buying a 5g phone for a couple of years at least.

If the phones going to last a year with some places having coverage this year and a lot more next year, why wouldn't you want a 5g version.
Because it costs more for no real benefit.

I can't actually find the price of the 5g version in the UK to compare if against.
it's only on contract - you can't buy it without one.
Even buying one 2nd hand, you still need to then try and purchase a 5g contract on it's own - which again i don't think you can.
Picked up a 7pro from John Lewis today. Love it so far.
Whilst I was in the shop and a guy in his 60s asked me if he needed 5g. I asked him what he had at the moment and his current phone isn't even 4g. I showed him BBC news loading over 4g and he was bowled over by the speed.
His comment was that the adverts made him think he had to have it.

I absolutely do not need 5g, this however is an enthusiasts forum.
Nothing wrong with wanting it at all!
If I lived in a 5g area is be tempted. Especially as a backup to my broadband connection.
I reckon we are about 10 years away from 90% of the population not needing a landline at all. As it is we only use them for broadband 90% of the time!

Surely you don't need a landline for broadband? I think we passed 90% of the population not needing a landline some time ago myself. When did you last call someone's home number?
How do you think the internet gets into most peoples houses. Of course you need a landline.
my wife thinks we still have a landline number - we haven't had one for over 2 years now since switching to virgin!

Have been considering Three sim for broadband. You get a modem and it's unlimited data. Think its £22 a month. I was getting speeds upto 100mb.
For £20 you can have unlimited everything with three.
Fibre optics I thought? We've not used dial up for about 20 years, no?
