The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

Hi peeps,

I'm thinking of buying this monitor but I'm also pondering in buying a new card if needed.

At the moment I have an Asus AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB Graphics Card which I got February last year, but not sure if I should -

1. Upgrade this card or not.
2. Buy a second.
3. This card is fine and will get the best out of the monitor whilst playing games such as Witcher 3 and Battlefield.
4. Time to go back to Nvidia.

Am I okay just to buy this monitor now and enjoy the experience :)

Thanks in advance.

So are you saying buy another R290 and crossfire it?
That is one of the options you give us! I would wait for the Fury X dual GPU and get that one. If your finances doesn't allow that expenditure, then get the R290 for a Crossfire setup.

I have aR295X2. When viewing Windows, only one is active and I get no lag @ 4K resolution. If you're a gamer, I suggest a dual card setup.

I'm a gamer so want the best games looking the best on the best monitor :).

Been a while since I upgraded so I might as well get this monitor and a new card.

Looking at the fury it does seem good but it seems that the Titan cards are better.

Will take this to the graphics card section now as I think I'm going off topic.:)

Monitor is defo bought, now I just need to ensure I get the right card to get the best out of it.

Thanks all.

Dont buy a titan, bag a 980ti for around 520, then when funds allow sli them

I took delivery of this monitor this morning from OcUK, and it's simply stunning!

The sheer size of the screen and the quality will impress anyone. The blacks look great being a VA panel too. I upgraded from a Asus VG278HE 27".

Taking possession of that monitor this morning was the smartest move you've made in a long time :D

Has anyone tried these with a desk clamp monitor arm yet?

I'm looking at the Ergotron ones.

Wondering if I can get away with the normal LX, or if I need the LX tall pole version or even the LX Sit-stand one.

Eyeing it up it looks like the monitor would work grand on the normal one or possibly the pole one, but the specs say the first 2 are only for screens up to 32"

It should definitely fit on the sit stand one as the spec says up to 42", but I'm wondering if it's actually overkill.

Major benefit I can see from trying the sit stand one is that I reckon you'd be able to rotate the entire screen 90 degrees for portrait mode due to the extra length and manoeuvrability.

I don't find it too reflective myself!
Come to think of it, I've actually never once thought... oh damn... screen reflection...

Just been driving round in GTAV from night to day and it looks stunning! Took a yacht for a spin around the coastline and the 4k at high settings is absolutely beautiful.

Can't really say on the lower scale resolution, as I'm running a Titan X and it's 4k-ing the heck out of everything nae bother!
To be honest... I don't know why anyone would buy a 4k monitor if they don't have the GPU juice to run it???

^^ For Ultrawide screen and screen real estate or eye sight issues :D

I was running this monitor at 2650x1440 for a day or two before my new DP cable arrived so can confirmed it scales well to this size atleast, I also used the AMD CCC option "GPU scaler" which seemed to work OK.

As for other resolutions I run a custom size with Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) of 3840 x 1607 and 3840 x1440 which works very well - am using these for FPS and certain RPG's for the wide view aswell as for games my soon to retire 7970 GHz cannot cope with.

Screen reflection I only notice on loading screens in the day time when the majority of the screen is pitch black, otherwise I think it helps give the colours a vibrant look. Prefer it over my matte ASUS.

Great, sounds like not so much of an issue with both things. More and more tempting!

Hey guys I've got a quick question - does the monitor come with any screws for VESA mounting? Or do you have to buy them separately?

I know that I need a 200x200 plate for it, but couldn't see if screws were also supplied too.

Thanks in advance!

I bought a 200x200 plate from Amazon. The plate came with screws. My problem was the holes on the plate were bigger than the screw heads so I had to add washers.
