has anyone worked out when the ps4 checks for updates in standby or is it something that's done continuously?

also saved data uploaded to psn , I have yet to see any notifications that its been uploaded even though I have all settings to allow this?

You have to set Standby Mode to allow Connect to Internet within the power saving settings.

It then seems to upload saves whenever you go into standby, there's no pop-up notification but if you go to notifications->uploads you can see a list of what's been copied automatically.

No idea when/how often it checks for updates.

I bought Playstation plus 3 months online through the sony site, yet when i goto the PSN+ bit on the ps4 it keeps asking me to join psn? any idea why that is? do i need to activate it somehow or something

Ignore it, it still shows up on mine too. If you go to your profile there should be the PlayStation Plus symbol by your ID at the top to confirm your PSN+ is enabled.

It's a shame that you cannot come to mine and listen to my ps4 because it would seem maybe not all PS4's are the same regarding noise levels.

I had a listen to my neighbours and it sounded the same as mine playing Killzone. I think as mine is in a wooden cabinet it amplifies the noise.

It all works ok and with the sound on it's not to bad.

Wow, that's actually awesome imo. An advantage it may be in terms of responsiveness, but to people who have gamed on PC's all their life, a controller ius a horrible FPS experience, and at least with one of these then you can play them how you want to play them. Besides, people who have used consoles for years are so good with joypads as to be easily as good as an above average keyboard and mouse FPS'er. Only the top few % of hardcore PC gamers will have such a big advantage imo.

I am not a great FPS gamer on PC (I just haven't got the lightning reactions for it), and such with joypads on consoles, so this is the exact kind of thing I can see myself buying with a clear conscience to make me at least on a level playing field with people who are good with joypads. :)

EDIT - It does seem it's a pita to setup though according to research, and does seem to have some negatives.

I never play FPS with a keyboard and mouse, but I more than doubled my average score when using a XIM.

Keyboard and mouse accuracy with the massive auto aim console FPS games have mean using a XIM is definitely cheating.

It looks like the fix for the mixamp issues on the PS4 is to get one of these:
http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/cables-parts/ps4-chat-cable/464

Can't find it for sale in the UK though, and you can't use any old 2.5mm > 3.5mm adapter :(

Ps4 sold out now?? anyway to still buy from online and not paying over the top.

You could try the Argos stock checker from here http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/argos-reserve-ps4

Set the audible alert and see if one comes up near you, unless you want to travel a little.

I'm still waiting for mine from the rainforest, only ordered 14th november though but hopefully will come before 25th.

Alan.

What mixamp are you talking about?

2011 wired Mixamp, or the 5.8 wireless mixamps.

If you use the USB connection to the Ps4 the chat volume is far too quiet. You can only hear it if you turn the game sound off via the mixamp.

The 360 chat cable doesn't allow you to chat as it is a straight 3 pole connection rather than the 4>3 pole adaption the turtlebeach cable performs.
