Who says I'm not interested?I have game pass and elite pad. Over 500 quid for any console is a joke.
You're forgetting about inflation, things simply go up in price over time. This calculation was posted over 3 years ago and it had the PS3 at over $567, it would be over $600 now. Personally i think £500-£600 for a high end 4k 60fps gaming system better than 98% of gaming PC's is an absolute bargain. There are rumors that MS will release a cheaper 4Tflop console which would be a really smart move in my opinion, covering both the people that want a high end console and the people that want a lower priced console.

So they're going to release a next-gen console that is less powerful than the Xbox One X...

I'd have thought that their "lower priced console" would just be something like Project xCloud; a cheapy device for the controller(s) to connect to with an HDMI output and the rest is done on the cloud.

The Xbox One X has 6Tflops - so I would assume they would rebrand this into something despite the obvious hardware change from Jaguar to Navi cores.

If it does happen, it will likely have less graphical grunt and target 1080p. It will have the nvme drive so games will still load super fast and work on it, whereas those games will not work on the xbone x. That is my guess.

I thought this was an interesting in-depth analysis.

Right just watched that the whole way through.

After him creaming all over the Xbox spec he doesn't believe the two consoles will be a world apart in terms of performance. With the xbox wining most test easily. Which we already knew.

Also he didn't seem very confident that the series X would be a raging success due to price and people being locked into the PS5 ecosystem.

Also Sony being cooler for all us kool katz

He also stated the PS5 drive could change the game with game development.

Most of these points have already been raised here.

I found the backwards compatibility part most interesting, about how the design of the PS4 Pro and PS5 may have been hamstrung because of it, whereas Microsoft are doing it through software.

It'll only be over £500 if the Series X is also over £500. Neither company wants to be drastically different to the other in price, there's ample evidence that being the more expensive of the two launch consoles contributes to losing that generation (Xbox 360 was cheaper and outsold the PS3, PS4 was cheaper and outsold the Xbox One). Also, MS are in a position where they can afford to take more of a hit on each console sold than Sony can, so I wouldn't be surprised to see MS match whatever price Sony announce.

360 sold around 83.7mil units & PS3 87.4mil units. Also as of June 2019 SONY sold over 100million PS4 while MS sold 47.42mil Xbone (any variance) by end of 2019.

All those 100million PS4s owners don't expect to jump to XBX if all PS4 (possibly PS3 & PS2 it seems) games are compatible with PS5. (there is an image from the presentation about this).

And wrote the latter given that SONY got a patent for a new console emulator last year.

TF is the new 32 vs 64 bit.

Indeed, there are so many other metrics that count towards the overall performance, even with the GPU itself you have things like the pixel fill rate and memory bandwidth. I've said it before but the biggest difference this generation will come from the Ryzen CPU's, they're proper big boy CPU's unlike the previous generation and clocked high too.
