SS-89 said:Mod should move this to the overclocking section.
Scoobie Dave said:What cooling is that on mate?
Just ordered a Q6600 B3 myself so should be playing with it on Thursday.

lay-z-boy said:Get a better phase unit tbh
BILKO1 said:Mach 2 GT, easyriders old Asus P5B deluxe Ballastix 5300, 1.4v in bios (lots of droop) I'm not bu ying a new phase unit just to bench these hot quads i'll wait for intel to sort the heat issues

using a Kandalf LCS
1.51v in cpu-z
will get some prime shots up over the weekend, passes everything without a hitch
boots at 3.9+ Ghz but i cba trying and testing for the right volts yet lol
will update in a few days
p5k-e does almost 500mhz fsb, 497 to be exact lol
temps??.... who cares
<maddness> said:hot lol
Tom|Nbk said:Hotter than the sun's core.
Scoobie Dave said:Currently priming @3.4GHz with a 1.5v in the bios, I think you get a lot more vcore drop with these quads!
Christ these things do run hot, even under water. My temps on full load seem to be about 67c
I take it this is normal though from what I can gather?
Scoobie Dave said:Thought you was not bothered about the G0 stepping?
Scoobie Dave said:That's true I suppose, time will tell. Knowing me I will probably buy a G0 stepping quad as well.
oggmonster said:*slightly off topic*
Is it possible that G0 stepping could be worse at overclocking? It was only a theory and I can't remember where I read it? But it went along the lines of intel deliberately making the new G0 stepping harder to overclock and also something about the silicon being of a lesser quality... It is probably just bs but would like to know if there is any truth in it...
oggmonster said:If I can get to 3.2ghz on a thermalright120 extreme with respectable load temps (around 65c would be great) then i'll be a happy bunny
Biffa said:OK made the wife go and pick it up from citylink depot
Going to build tonight.. see what one of these beauties will do in a mATX setup
Biffa said:Heh, depends how extreme you wanna go. I'll be happy with 3.0 and exstatic with 3.2
If it all goes horribly wrong I can always swap the CPU's into my P965_DS3 in my tower.
