***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

well winter time approached temperatures are down so was thinking to squeeze more juice from q6600 i was running 3.6ghz at 1.4v on bios and 1.38 on cpu-z. it is 1.2625V VID should clock high hopefully. and i dont want to increase vcore as the will increase electricity bill. so is there any guys with smiler chip can give advice for some tweaks. currently at 3.7 stable.

i was on 4 ghz but for some reason it was hard to get stable and it needed 1.5v was ok for benching.

I have my Q6600 @ 390*9 = 3,510 3.5gig on air max temp 42c
I'm using a akasa AK-961 coolblue.
the proc is at default volts,
I did take it to 3.9gig but had to up the volts and things started to get way to hot, I think it will go over 4gig when I get a water
Cooling, but they are excellent proc's and I'm well pleased with it.:D

cheers

Wish i could get mine to run like that, cant seem to push past 3.2ghz on mine :/

Although i do have 4x1GB of OCZ Plat which could be the problem?

I just wish i could find a right up about all the settings on my DFI Dark as they confuddle the **** out of me.

Thinking of swapping my Q6600 for a E8400 just so i can push past 3.2ghz and also the quad would be put to better use in my media pc

Had mine running at 3.2Ghz for about 10 months, sourced a 2nd pair of clips to mount an extra fan onto the Scythe cooler, sitting happy at 3.6Ghz, 1.4v Bios (1.38'ish CPU-Z), with full load temps hovering around 58 to 61c. Not tested 3.7Ghz, yet...

Stock Vid is 1.2875

Currently @3.6ghz, prime stable. vcore in bios of 1.4125, 1.416 @load (1.2750vid) temps of 68-68-62-62. cooled by a TRUE120 black with 2 1500 rpm fans in push/pull. When i get the cpu and cooler lapped and maybe some more powerful fans for it ill aim for a higher clock.

I've been running my q6600 @3.6 for 10months (1.475v - Ulta 120 both lapped)

Just upgraded my Abit IP35Pro bios from 14 to 17 and my OC has gone haywire!

The reason to upgrade was due to some weird problems with new Ati Powercolor 4870x2 any some mates not having the same problems with the same boards..

Anyway I think my 4870x2 problems are more heat related (onboard ati bios heat control not up to scratch - thats my feeling)

So I've downgraded back to my Abit v14 bios and all is well again.. They really changed all the paremeters with is version!

Anyone else had a problem with the Abit +14Bios? or running with 4870x2?

Here is my fresh Oc...

Never done this before so! glad its stable with no hassle.

Bought one of those little swiftech water cooling jobs for £80, as my temps @3.0ghz were 75 load and 55 idle.
Now as you can see a blend test on prime hits the 50's and the other (small fft s) will climb up to 60's

Not sure if this makes any odds but while running prime I did super pi calcs, and watched an episode of heroes!
got bored while I was waiting, didn't chug at all! suppose I could try 3.6 but i'm not brave enough!

cheers for listening :)

I'm having all sorts of problems getting my IP35Pro stable even at stock speeds with Crucial Ballistix 2 x 2GB, even I try and select anything other than SPD the system won't boot with C1 errors (Memory) on the MOBO.

I've tried running with just 2GB but still I'm having problems running stable, Prime95 fails with about 5 minutes of running, if it doesn't hang and hard lock the machine! If I run small FFT's which is less harsh on the memory then it runs fine, so again this makes me supect the memory!

My Q6600 was running happily at 380 FSB (3.4Ghz) so I need 4Gig of memory that can run run at this speed or happily on a divider if needs be.

Does anyone know what bios settings I should use for a Asus Maximus Forumla running Rampage bios to get mine stable at 4Ghz+?

3.9 is ok but I tried 4.0 445 x 9 at 1.525 volts and prime failed instantly then the pc locked up.

I can post up my current settings if it would help

Finally got my cooler in.
And spent 3 ish hours working from 3.2GHz to 3.6Ghz.
Was abit hassle with blue screen and crashes and needed 1.4125v in BIOS for 3.6Ghz and shows 1.392v in CPU-Z.
Max temp of 67.
Not sure if it prime stable because my retarded brother restarted the computer before i could get to it.
But seem to be fine atm.
Will be trying prime again tonight
