Thermalright Ultra could do with a little work, rough finish
I just lapped my Ultra-120, was quite shocked too see that the base was quite badly 'concaved', should have taken some pics really but after 5 mins sanding the edges were completely copper but the center was still anodised silver coated? (untouched by the sanding).

Get yer 400 grit out! :D

Nice one fornowagain :D

Just some random stuff going down.

I'm in two minds to lap it, mine is ever so slightly convex. Apparently thats by design. Not so sure I believe that, nigh on impossible to machine deliberately. Looks more like the base is milled, then distorts after they solder the heatpipes. All I know it touches the IHS center first.

Still priming btw.

1.7v thats pretty darn high! :D

Dont think I will hammer my GO that hard! lol

Have to ask though whats the highest clock you can get 8hrs (or more) prime stable?
Super pi shots dont mean much to me tbh.

I want (and Easy does :p ) proof of proper stability!

lol you should start policing the XS boards, it bores me totally pooooless on there, chernobyl is more stable than XS screenshots.

lol

Look at me I'm at 4ghz but unfortuately I can't actually use my pc! :o :D

( this is not intended for Azza btw)

Give him a break ffs. Like most people he wants to see how high it goes before doing some 24/7 stability checks. I'm sure he will provide some prime shots when he has settled on an overclock.

Ill get stable and all that **** done when I want to. Im not going to be runnig prime for 8 hours 'cos Ive got better things to do with my PC.

And this is after all an overclocking thread. And what am I doing? Overclocking. If you only want a thread with stable overclocks then get the title changed and ill make my own thread with what ever overclocks i want. After all you want to see what these can get to dont you?

I havnt even started my max FSB overclocking yet so it will still be a while until you see safe and stable overclocks from me. Im having too much fun.

*not having at go at you Scoobie Dave or you Easy just so you know*

Ah thats the opposite to mine? Did you do that blue thing with a felt tip to find that out or is it visible by eye?
Thats right. The base is presumably not heat treated. Just milled from billet. They get it hot, lets out the stress and buckles, goes either up or down. I did blue it yes, came straight off the middle.

Pretty please with a cherry on top... :D

Can't you do a 3.6ghz run overnight.

Thats ideally what I want 24/7 just interested in the temps under full load. :o
