***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

Currently running at 3ghz with a thermalright 120 extreme, idles with the cores between 28 and 36. Under load one core will go to about 55 degrees with the others hovering around 46.

Surprisingly easy to get that clock to would assume it will go higher :). Just strange how I can get upto 10 degrees difference over the cores......is this normal?

Could try reseating the cooler or lapping it I guess.

one core only?? look at your Ultra120eXtreme, see if it's flat.

my first 2 cores is almost always 5 to 8 degrees higher than core 3 and 4, even when using Zalman 9500, and now 3 resets with Ultra120 Extreme. i guess that's because im unlucky with my chip?

Yeah, currently have

Core 0 39
Core 1 35
Core 2 30
Core 3 33

Quite a range of temperature difference there, im going to give lapping a go and see if it can reduce the difference a bit, be nice to get them all down as low as the Core 2 temperature :)

Only managed to get mine to 2.7Ghz :(

Didn't know what it was till today, turns out Speedfan lies :D. Coretemp has Cores 1 and 2 hitting 70 degrees (58 on the other two) when running prime95 which is too hot.

I've got a TuniQ120 and 3 120mm case fans running, will lapping help out my temps? Really want to get them down as my motherboard (Asus Blitz) I know can do a lot more.

new system

Asus p5K premium with crucial balistix 800mhz.

I have managed to push FSB to 340. It crashed so I dropped the memory bus from about 977 to 850 (not exact numbers). It is now running Prime 95 with a temp of 63 max on a Artic Frezer.

So I have broken the 3ghz target. Any views around vcore (have not touched it yet) and memory settings?

Maybe worth finding the limit of each component first, never a good idea to overclock ram and cpu at the same time. Its good to see your keeping an eye on temps though.

As easy mentions, you current cooler isn’t ideal for quad overclocking.
