Yes that would affect the temps, as its breaking the air flow.

3.4ghz stable for 8ish hours linkage not bad for second stab at this board abd cpu
Are you using a cooler on that CPU?
Think 82C is a little too toasty
Might be worth trying it if he already has the CPU in the board, it could be worth a shot, I just wouldn't expect much

tatts, you have taken longer than me to start overclocking your rig!! your temps are great! with that vid you should be good for 4ghz with as little as 1.5-1.55v.
