** The Official Resident Evil Games Thread **

It had the potential to be even higher, but I feel the devs made some mistakes. The first part of Racoon City was relatively poor imo and I could not wait to move on from it. Oh and spider fight was stupid too. Not a fan of fights like tha, too actiony and not very Resident Evil in my book.

It is very close to RE0 for me. It may even slip behind RE0 with time. Will see how it ages. I can see RE0 Remake beating as long as it does not get the RE 3 Remake treatment.

Hopefully they can see that what made RE9 a success is more the survival horror parts and we get something even more like that for REX :)

I think my favourite experience has still been Resident Evil 2, that for me was the best version of the game, the weak zombies you can just mow down, the special infected which pose more of a challenge and the locations as well.

Yeah man. These new ones just can't quite capture the originals. They too busy with action and cut scenes all over the place.

RE9 is right near the top for me, exceeded my expectations. RE2R might still be my favourite, but it's close between RE4R and RE9 for second place I think.

I think the OG's are classics and amazing for their time, but I much prefer how the 3rd person remakes and Requiem play overall.

That said, I'd also like RE to go back to more pure suvival horror (like Grace's parts) for the next new one and maybe make things a little more grounded as well.

For me to feel this way they would have to have done a little better than what they delivered in the end. Some areas felt padded and the story needed to be a little stronger.

I think had they gone less action and had the starting area be bigger it would have done better in my book.

I liked the outside area at the start, more of that and buildings to go in, plus a bigger mansion and remove some of the action stuff in racoon city. I would have liked to see a larger rcpd with a bit more to explore and the surrounding areas.

Had they done the above it would have been higher on my list for sure.

Imo they need to stick with the original formula and improve it. Stop with the action stuff or at least limit it. I like what they did here, but they over did the action stuff imo. That spider fight was stupid.

I think the first half of the game was very strong, but it will vary massively on how you as a player approached it? I spent all my time as grace being stealthy and utilising the different ways to distract or lure zombies out of their normal routes. I only used the pistol when I made a mistake and found myself cornered, or the hypo injector on a couple of notable zombies that felt like they were on the most visited corridors/rooms.

So when it flipped to Leon I had a great experience tearing through the place and getting payback so to speak. Conversely I've seen people going all out in the grace section, killing everything they can, taking over as Leon and finding his portion to then be empty, disappointing and short.

I think it would have been really cool if we had a flip moment where you go through an area as Leon first and approach it how you like, for Grace to then deal with the consequences afterwards. Go conservative then there's more zombies for Grace to have to navigate through but maybe more supplies as well (maybe even shared prizes in like in the casino room). Go all out and you can clear the place, but potentially then make it nightmarish for Grace on the risk that the zombies mutate and return back as those bloater head guys with few resources to deal with them. It could have been a really good self assessment moment of how you think about the rest of the game going forward and how your choices might come back to affect you.

They went with the full on action though, which is fine and quite enjoyable in the end (albeit way too easy), but it really felt like it split the whole thing into two separate games. So yeah I feel like that's an angle they could maybe explore in the future if they do something like this again, action sure, but not free of consequence.

Yeah when I got Leon there it was just the Butcher and 1 or 2 zombies left over. I still had a decent amount of ammo on grace too, on standard classic.

I suppose on a no-bonus insanity run it'd be a bit different though.

I agree it would've been nice if the care center/mansion was a bit bigger. I was happy with the amount of action personally, would have liked things to be a little tougher and more varied tho.

I managed to kill the butcher as Grace, used a lot of ammo though, i guess the smart thing would have been to use an injector, but that wasnt me :)

He is like the first I kill. On my second playthrough it took one shot with the hand cannon, all my normal bullets and had to finish him of with my knife

Just took 2 bullets using Requiem to kill him on my first playthrough. I did a lot of exploration of the mansion with Grace and managed to craft 7 bullets.

Thought I'd actually play RE as never have done that far (PC 2015 one) but it just goes to launch then shuts down with no error. So guess I won't then lol.

Weird. Verify files?

Yeah. Left it for now and launched 2. Got an achievement for killing the thing with the crane but only using it once.
Completely forgot who all these characters are lol. Dare not start again.

For anyone playing Resident Evil 2 Remake I highly recommend this mod:

Took me a while to work out what's what just now while setting it up.

Basically copy paste contents next to the game exe. Then once on game you can use insert, home and page up to bring up options.

I set it to DLAA with profile K. The M profile plummets fps and arguably looks worse for this game.

In game make sure bloom is off too plus all the other rubbish.

The game looks much better now. I think yiu can use the same mod for RE3 Remake too.

Set it up now. Once I am done with RE9 I will play this I think :)
