Is anyone having/had issues connecting to the internet using mobile data connection?

I finally got my new micro sim working last night but unless im on wifi i cannot use the internet althought calls and texts are fine.

I have checked and mobile data connection is turned on, i have googled around and cant seem to find a cure for this and as t-mobile have been next to useless i want to try everything else before ringing them.

I am wondering if it may be due to 4g connection. as i live in Bristol Im wondering if my phone is connnecting using a 4g signal and as i dont have a 4g tariff tmobile is blocking it at their end.

on my screen on the top right hand side of the status bar there is a capital N with a blue icon in the bottom left corner of the N that looks like the wifi icon turned 45 degrees, not sure what this means

edit; I turned my dataconnection to 3g only and still no joy

would love to be able to read a full user manual but cant see one and the "quick start" booklet is somewhat limited

Are your APN settings set up correctly. Also, if the correct APN settings are there make sure the circled box next to the APN name is selected

I don't know what to do at the moment. I've got an S3 on an Orange contract and it'll only cost me around £80 to buy myself out so that's no big deal. (I bought the S3 outright which is why I'm almost due an upgrade).

Now, I want a note 2 but I wont get 4g in my area for about 6-9 months according to rumours. So, I have 2 options.

Option 1. Just get the Note 2 (LTE) on a 2 year Orange/Tmobile contract. Problem is though EE are NOT offering 4g as a bolt on later down the line. According to there website you can resign in but I dont want to sign in to a full contract 6-9 months down the line just for 4g (no new phone ofc).

Option 2. Wait for EE and pay over the odds for something I can't use for 6-9 months. But at least they offer 12 month contracts (accoring to someone in this thread)

wish i could get a straight answer frrom t-mobile.
If I take out a 24 month contract at £41 a month and pay £79 for the lte phone Now, how much will the contract be when i switch to EE on a 4g contract

The same price or more, you can't switch to a cheaper priced tariff.

So you'd be put onto the £41 1GB contract at a minimum. Though you'd have to switch before the end of December.

thanks Azzza.....its the more bit that worries me, T mobile said £41 min plus ....what is the plus bit ? £10 £20...
I have not received a definitive answer yet from them.

Just got this from T-mobile
You are now connected with Mac.

Mac: Hi there, my name is Mac. I am part of the dedicated T-Mobile Online Sales Team. How can I help you with your new order?

Mac: Hi Gary

gary wallace: hello Mac

gary wallace: the full monty 24 months at £41, £29 note 2 lte contract. what will be the cost of this contract when switched to ee on 4g

Mac: I will certainly help you with that

Mac: Gary, to be honest we don't have the exact price plan yet on 4G

gary wallace: oh

hi Azza
yes i have seen the tariffs, £41 for 1gb data, but according to T-mobile its not a straight switch, the £41 on a 24 month contract on t mobile is also paying for the phone purchase at £29, the EE tariff is for data only, there will be a premium on top to switch !!!

Hi all, new to this forum. Found it when I was searching for Note II info. :)

The EE contracts are expensive no doubt, and my current T-Mobile contract isn't finished yet so I'm going to have to buy my way out.

Once this is done I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for the 12 month EE contract with 5GB data, was going to go for the 3GB but the 5GB only works out £10 more overall:

3GB = £56 - 12 months - £90 handset = £762
5GB = £61 - 12 months - £40 handset = £772.

Few reasons for this, I really really really want a Note II that is LTE capable, obviously would like to use the new 4G network, and I'm sick of 2 year contracts!

I have a Galaxy S3 at the moment so I will sell this too to make some of the money back which won't make it as bad.

Where did you find these price plans? Assuming you're not mistaking them for 24 month contracts they're actually not horrendous

Just realised it's you Gaz!

It's mental. Knowing this, I'm happy to just buy the non LTE version and get the Note 2 now :)

Oh, I might need the TS3 details again btw lol. Formatted my PC a month ago and keep forgetting to get them from you lol

Just modding mine now, added a load of apps to the multi-screen menu in framework-res.apk. Pretty cool watching TVCatchup and reading the news in a split window. And increased some of the volume levels in default_gain.conf.

Link to what to do or a noob-friendly guide please??? :)

Can someone please explain this? I just want to know before i hit 'buy'
It's nothing important, you can change the area code on some firmwares. Or you just put in your own APN settings.

CSC is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.

Which bit? Adding the apps, I decompiled/recompiled the framework apk. The app names you can get from the market url. The sound is a simple text file edit. An mods will need a root and CWM recovery if someone had made a zip version.

That's what I was thinking. EE.co.uk just shows monthly costs, nothing about phones and length of contracts. I'd be quite surprised if they give us this on a 12 month contract...

Ok i hit 'BUY'

£480 in the end. Any good case recommendations? I'm after a leather book case and i don't mind paying a bit for a decent one. The ones in amazon look nice but a bit 'cheap'

I got a similar case for my SII from amazon but the closing clasp never lined up properly so i want a high quality case that is built well.

Oh and what the best screen protector going at the moment? Something the repels dirt and fingerprints so i'm not wiping the screen every hour!

my sgs2 had print marks on the screen and i was constantly wiping it, but it's not an issue with the note 2 for me at least.
