*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

I'm surprised people are talking about the Nexus 5 already, the Nexus 4 has only been out for roughly 6 months and a good 2 months of those there was massive supply issues. The phone is selling very well so I don't understand why Google would release a new Nexus so quickly?

Even with the S4 out the Nexus 4 is still a great phone and at half the price it'll continue to sell.

its all about competition

you could say the same about s3 and s4. s3 has only been out for a few months why would samsung release s4 ?

The S3 will have been out for a year by the time the S4 is available, a yearly release cycle is pretty standard.

due to recent news of no octo core for UK, i will definately be waiting until I/O google for motorola x or nexus 5

im not going to pay £450-£500 for an overpriced handset with no octo core.

when google will most likely subsidise the nexus or x for cheaper and similar spec.

you will not have your octopus in moto x or w/e it will be called either, more doesn't mean that it is better, PE is what we care about and there's no proof yet that it is a lot better than the competition - snappie 600.

a few months? its nearly a year since it has been out.

Not anymore... newer versions of Android removed the "apps to SD" feature. Currently I have a 16gb Note 2, although only 10 gbs are available to the user. Games like Bard's Tale are well over 3gb and considering every app gets saved on the phone with no option to move to the SD card you run out of space fast.

Therefore you have to root in order to store games on the SD card now. I'm rooted and I use an app called Directory Bind to move large games to my SD card. However with a 64gb S4 I wouldn't have to bother with directory bind or even rooting. Rooting after every update is a pain in the ass.

Why kind of stupid crap is that? Why would they do such a thing?

Samsung on the Exynos 5 Octa:

Samsung Announces the Availability of Exynos 5 Octa for New Generation of Mobile Devices

Seoul, Korea – March 21, 2013 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced semiconductor solutions, announced that its new Exynos 5 Octa application processor is scheduled for mass-production in the second quarter of 2013. The Exynos 5 Octa features an unprecedented eight-core ARM® big.LITTLE™ architecture based on the Cortex-A15™ CPU, technology built for efficient handling of multitasking abilities for high-end mobile devices today.

“High processing performance based on multi-cores has become an essential factor for advanced mobile devices, and what users expect more is how long and seamlessly they can enjoy smart mobile computing experiences,” said Taehoon Kim, Vice President of Marketing, System LSI Business, Device Solutions Division, Samsung Electronics, “With the new mobile platform driven by the Exynos 5 Octa processor, which heralds and fulfills such expectations, consumers will be able to experience a new level of mobile computing in a few months.”

As highlighted at CES 2013, the Exynos 5 Octa is the world’s first mobile application processor to implement the new concept of processing architecture, big.LITTLE™, based on the Cortex-A15™ CPU to offer optimal core use. By housing a total of eight cores to draw from—four powerful Cortex-A15™cores for processing-intense tasks along with Cortex-A7™ quad cores for lighter workloads—the Exynos 5 Octa enables mobile devices to achieve maximum performance. This approach offers up to 70 percent energy saving when performing various tasks, compared to using Cortex- A15™cores only.

The newest Exynos processor will be manufactured using Samsung’s latest 28-nanometer (nm) HKMG (High-k Metal Gate) low power process and power-saving design, which increases the power efficiency of the processor by minimizing the static current leakage.

The Samsung Exynos 5 Octa enhances the powerful 3D graphics processing capabilities by more than two-times over the Exynos 4 Quad.

With today’s advanced diplay technology transitioning toward ever higher and sharper resolutions, the Exynos 5 Octa is powerful enough to drive WQXGA (2560x1600) display, the best crystal-clear resolution currently available for mobile devices, enabling users to enjoy crisper video images on their premium smartphones and tablets.

By adopting e-MMC (embedded multimedia card) 5.0 and USB 3.0 interface for the first time in the industry, the new Exynos application processor boasts fast data transfer speed, a feature that is increasingly required to support advanced processing power on mobile devices so that users can fully experience upgraded mobile computing such as faster booting, web browsing and 3D game loading.

Samsung Exynos 5 Octa incorporates a full HD 60fps (frame per second) video hardware codec engine for 1080p video recording and play-back, an embedded 13 mega-pixel 30fps image signal processor interface for high-quality camera functionality, and 12.8GB/s memory bandwidth interface that enables Full HD Wifi display.

It's just pointless sounding off from people who can't seem to read a thread properly.

Ah so it is about the epeen figures then :D

:p

Samsung push it more than most :D The SGS2 got very hot when the CPU started using 1.5W, most phones top out little over 1W.

Looking at the Exynos 5 Octa power/performance chart they showed at ISSCC you can do some quick calcs and work out clock speeds at extreme device temps. I think that's where Anandtech guestimated the 1.2GHz for the A15s.

I'd say it was:
4 A15 cores active: 750Mhz
1-2 A15 cores active, 2-3 sleeping: 1.6GHz

Both the Exynos Octa and 600 are severely crippled in a phone platform.

The S2 was always a ****-hot device sarge. :D

It's always been about penis size. Back in the late 80s if you wanted to impress people you had to have a penis so big that you looked silly when you held it up next to your head. After that, though, penises became smaller and smaller until eventually the smaller your penis was, the smugger you would look. However, in recent years there has been an increase in the size of penises that are deemed fashionable despite Apple refusing for some time to make their penises larger. Now we have reached the point where five inches is the height of trendiness, and everybody who isn't led by fashion is wondering why anyone would want a penis that won't fit comfortably in their trousers.

I want to know when will they release one that tucks aware nicely in your trousers when you are not using it, or just doing light duties. And when you need to use it for heavier duties, it gets bigger?

I don't know. Samsung are testing technologies so you can use a flexible penis instead of one that is stiff.
