I've been trying to use this today and its driving me nuts. Some things I love, the add ons are great, especially the mashtape and Last.FM integration. But the lack of a 'now playing' feature is just unbelievable, how are you supposed to see what's coming up or queue up tracks? Hope they improve this to a usable level but imo it was far too early to call it a 1.0 build.

Yeah some things should have been in Songbird 1.0. I did love that whenever I edit tracks in Songbird, when the current playing song ends, Songbirds plays the song I have selected even though its another album by another artist. :D

Last time I used Songbird was 0.7 and I have to say it's come a long way.

It felt like Firefox with a MP3 addon before. Now it feels the opposite.

Still not quite enough for me to move away from Media Monkey (I need folder view or tree view!) but it's looking very good.

Is there any way of cutting down the library view filter from 3 columns to 2? I have Artist then Album then...well year at the moment but most of the options seems useless to me, can't find a way of turning the column off though.

Can't think of one myself, maybe write a mod to do it?

Songbird has been crashing a lot lately for me, I don't know if its because of the size of my library or what. It doesn't seem to like playing overnight certainly (I leave music on whilst sleeping).

Just thought I'd bring this back up. I haven't used it in a while because I've not really had much time on my PC, and Winamp 5 was looking nice for me for a while. Might go back to this and see whats new.

Anyone using 1.1 able to say what new features are in it? I just can't get on with Winamp 5's media library so will go back to 2.8.1 player I think.

I see they added Album artwork :).

me neither, but there are tons of updates since 281, and they look almost identical when in lite mode

Seems they still haven't added a 'now playing' feature. Is this not completely obvious? You can't queue up a set of albums without having to create a playlist everytime you do it. Pity because the program is really nice other than that. Killer feature to miss though, might as well have firefox without bookmarks :(

Think I know what you mean...eg right click a song and say 'enqueue in winamp' type thing?

For me the only downside to it is how sluggish it is with large music collections, or editing lots of tags in one go. The metadata editor is soooooooo slow, especially with FLAC.

Yeah, just some way of seeing a list of what you're currently playing. When I tried it out I would set an album playing, then go and browse elsewhere in the library and have no way of seeing what was coming up! Just feels like a massive feature to be missing.

Does 1.1.1 still do that stupid thing of playing a song from an album you've played then when you go and edit tags or album art for another album, it then plays that selected song? Really annoying!

Here is an addon that lets you add now playing:

Can someone sell me on this songbird? I tried it some time ago and it was very... generic, seemed like a poor clone of J River media center and at the moment I just use WMP as it's pretty much perfect for me.

What are the things you find great about it and what are the best addons? As far as I can see addons are the thing thats going to make it different.
