The Official Splinter Cell Conviction thread

It is speculation at the moment but there is no "only on xbox" logo on the 360's game case which means it's destined for PS3 at some point. :D

It doesn't have "only on Xbox 360" because it is also available on the PC, and I know that MS have pumped a lot of cash into the Splinter Cell franchise in general and I think that with Conviction, for the time-being, it is a Microsoft-exclusive (including Windows). I wouldn't expect to see it on the PS3 anytime soon.

Wikipedia

Ubisoft has stated that it has no current plans to release it on the PlayStation 3 with Max Beland, the Creative Director of Splinter Cell further stating; "Well, Splinter Cell was originally built on Xbox and we’ve had a great relationship with Microsoft. So Conviction is an exclusive for 360, it’s not going to go to PS3..."

Bioshock, NG2, and the GTA4 episodes had "only on Xbox360" on the case that dont mean a thing anymore lol. Anyway saw these articles mentioned about PS3 Splinter Cell,

The prospect of Splinter Cell: Conviction on the PS3 has been a hot topic ever since it was announced. After the last round of rumors were debunked, we expected it to be the end of the chatter about the game coming to the PS3. However, a recent finding on LinkedIn offers a glimmer of hope for Splinter Cell: Conviction sneaking onto the PS3.

Marc Demers, lead software engineer at Ubisoft Montréal, has listed Splinter Cell: Conviction for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, on his LinkedIn account.

Many titles have been incorrectly listed for the wrong platforms before, and at this point there is nothing to indicate otherwise. However, considering this employee at Ubisoft worked on Splinter Cell: Conviction perhaps he knows more then the marketing camp does. With the exception of portable platforms Sam Fisher has always appeared on all major platforms. Perhaps this will turn out to be a uber double secret timed exclusive and PlayStation 3 owners will get to play Sam Fisher’s latest adventure, eventually.

Thanks Kendrick for the tip!

[UPDATE] Marc Demers has removed the PS3 platform for Splinter Cell: Conviction.

And more recently,

The rumors just won’t stop for Ubisoft and Splinter Cell: Conviction. After two resume listings saying Conviction would come to PlayStation 3, now even the Ubisoft support site is listing the game for the Sony console.

As this was sent in, I went ahead and double-checked the other sections such as Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii to make sure there weren’t any game listings for either platform that weren’t announced. We’re good on that end.

Even though this may just be a support site listing, it just adds more fuel to the fire for Splinter Cell: Conviction on PlayStation 3. Hell, GamesRadar has even nailed down a future release date.

Thanks, Giovanni!

I still think it will see a Winter 10 release for the PS3, sure Ubisoft wouldnt want to miss out on another large revenue stream, and a 6 month window wouldnt harm 360 sales.

Hey I was just wondering if there is a code for getting the game new? I bought mine from a supermarket but there was no code inside after a friend mentioned about unlockables?

Thats for the Shadow edition and the LE.

I got shadow edition same price as normal edition from that purple shop

Well, I have to say that I am seriously impressed with the story for this so far. It is a lot of fun and very interesting to see how it all develops. Sam truly has had a rough time! I have just finished the mission where you are "Welcomed Home", and it was a really frantic but enjoyable mission. I'm now onto the mission from the demo, although it doesn't play quite the same as the demo, which is nice :)

I really enjoyed this game. Just need to do the coop campaign. I had a quick go with randoms but i got paired with idiots. :(

Deniable ops is pretty good. It's got shades of the old spintercell's. I don't think much of the last stand mode however.

Over all, very pleased with the game.

Gamertag in sig if anyone wants to do the coop campaign.

I want to do this as well mate I'll add you when I get home or add me before hand PLEYOR.

Finished the COOP story off today, what a stupid ending.
Almost completed all of the Hunter maps aswell, albeit on normal difficulty so will probably do them again on realistic.

I finished off the single-player story last night, and I was very impressed with the whole thing. The story was fantastic, and the plot twists were really enjoyable. I did find that some bits were a lot more focused on action rather than the stealth elements, and I have absolutely no idea how you're supposed to go through the game without ever shooting someone, but aside from that, the game was thoroughly enjoyable and well worth the money. I still need to finish off the co-op campaign, but me and my best mate are on the final part so we'll finish that off within the next few days. After that, there are all the other game modes, so there's still a heck of a lot of longevity left in the game. I really hope that they work on some DLC and another SC game soon :D

I've just seen that today we should be receiving another free DLC item from Ubisoft. They're releasing a free item every Thursday. I can't seem to find any info about what it might be, but last week it was the MP7A1.

Just finished the SP last night...wasnt too bad a game i suppose.

Started the deniable ops last night so will finish that off then probably trade it in.

Now im certainly not a master at Splinter Cell games and i was very worried when reviewers were suggesting it could be completed in about 5 hours..

5 Hours ??? Are they having a laugh ? I have been playing for about 9-11 hours so far and i have not completed it yet. Its pleasantly surprising as the missions keep coming, although im sure the end is near..
