*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

I've given in to the LCD deal. I've always wanted a steam deck, I had one preordered at initial release but chickened out as I didn't see a realistic use for one when I had my gaming laptop. I sold that to a friend though recently as I was travelling a lot less since leaving the military. That opened up a use case, a hole to fill, I can use it on lunch breaks and when I go up to visit parents etc. Less to lug around.

I would have loved an OLED model but the price of the LCD was hard to pass up.

Looking forward to getting my hands on one finally!

Valve added a colour vibrancy setting to the Steam Deck some time back. Before that you had to use the 3rd party Vibrant Deck plugin. I've mentioned before in some post in this thread, but it does help to make the LCD more colourful compared to the default setting, so make sure you check that out on the LCD version.

Just got the oled 1tb model myself, done straight swap for my nintendo switch 2 bundle, so happy i did, the steam deck is awesome!

Wish i got one sooner really.

I ended up buying the LCD. That £200 I saved by not going OLED will now go towards the Switch 2.

While OLED does look amazing compared to LCD, it's not worth an extra £200.

While OLED does look amazing compared to LCD, it's not worth the extra ehen Steamdeck 2 is not that far away and will likely be much better.

Not interested in a Switch 2. My original Switch just gathered way too much dust. Will get it used someday just to play exclusive ls and sell on. But that wont be for a good 5 years as that is how long it takes for Nintendo to release a handful (if that) of exclusives worth playing these days.

To scratch the gaming itch (having had to dismantle my office to become a nursery 6 months ago), I’ve setup the steam deck on my dinky interim work desk with monitor/kb/mouse.

In desktop mode I’ve been really impressed, it’s running all my normal games like my old desktop would, looking forward to experimenting with it a bit more. Obviously not as powerful as my full setup but have been pleasantly surprised none the less!

I really like the desktop mode. Makes me want a proper SteamOS release I can use instead of Windows on my gaming PC.
There are plenty of other options available. You also need to keep in mind that Nvidia is still a bit rubbish in Linux if you're using them in your desktop. Performance isn't great and I'm not sure what the current status of gamescope support is.

Disappointed in Parcel Force. Was due to be delivered Friday, they gave me a time between 10am and 4pm. Perfect for me, I can do the school run and get back in time... I then received an email at 8:10 telling me they had tried to deliver.

Great, so the email says they'll try the next working day, usually this should mean Saturday. Nope, hadn't noticed the card they posted and they ticked Monday. Not exactly next working day.

Annoyingly, I checked the tracking on the day it was attempted to check what dates could be selected for redelivery and Saturday showed up, so just assumed that's when the next working day would be.
