*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

I mean, there isn't really a new soc worth putting in the steam deck 2 yet, at least not one with significantly better graphics. So best guess they start shipping early 2024 for me, and then the same several month waiting time

The issue with the Deck from a performance point of view is it's 15W. You'd get a meaningful difference at a higher wattage as much better clocks.

The 6800U looks really good for example and I'd say would be well worth the upgrade.

I'm sure I had seen a prototype yesterday with a handheld with that chip in and they said it's awesome because it's got rDNA 2 cores and I think can do either 12or15w to 35w and you can choose I think. Just unsure on the device name or manufacturers.

I paid Thursday, tracking last updated on the 4th Netherlands side saying in transit. Parcel force tracking just says it's with the other courier essentially, so I'm hoping they receive it today! Would love it by weekend :)
I paid for mine on Thursday 23rd and it arrived the Thursday 30th (7 days). Fingers crossed for you.

Thats fair, but I'd guess that come steam deck 2 they'll hold off till at least RDNa 3, rather than just shove some more cores and throw more watts at it, specially as the big weakness is battery life.

Depends how long that is.
The Steam Deck is a pretty "on the edge" performance wise for a lot of newer stuff from what I can see. AMD aren't exactly quick which is exactly why Vega APU's are still kicking about lol.
I mean the steam deck APU is a "freak" anyway given it's ironically newer GPU and older CPU compared to the off the shelf APU's which are the opposite (Until the 6XXX stuff is out everywhere)

I did Aperture desk job. Short free game made specifically for deck and takes you through all the controls. Good way to test all your inputs work correctly.

Aperture Desk Job is awesome. I have been playing Wreckfest, looks and runs great (high preset at stable 45fps). And Lost Planet 3, which does 60fps maxed out at near 4 hour battery life.

Mine should be arriving today and like you I downloaded Wreckfest as I just heard about the game today so thought it would be good on the Deck.

Mine has arrived today (though I'm at work)

I hadn't heard of this title, so will get that on the go this evening :)

Thanks!

So for anyone interested

256gb paid last Thursday, dispatched Monday and arrived today (the following Thursday)

Not terrible all things considered..

(I'm positive right now, until I get home and find out it's DOA or something :D)
