The official UK PS3 pre order thread!

A certain store started pre-ordering today, saying they will change it to 'out of stock' as soon as they fill they're launch-day allocation. They took the £430 out of my account as soon as i placed the order, which was quite a surprise tbh. Thankfully it's refundable in case i change my mind!
 
How can anyone be thinking they will make a profit off the back of this. The console is selling for similar to retail prices right now, I dont think the uk offical version will be worth that much more, not hundreds or what you might expect.

I'd advise you to be closing the sale on launch day because it'll come down soon after imo
 
Got an email off a certain games store today, my 15th May 2006 order is being 'processed'. So i rang them up and apparently im guaranteed a console on launch day because i pre-ordered ages ago :cool: and they won't be taking my £430 until March, unlike a certain catalogue store.

Went to get my RC car fixed this morning and went into Woolies before and saw this, I had to laugh. LOL What is wrong with this picture??

Colleague is incorrect too.

I was going to go in and tell them but I thought it was funny so left it.
 
Well, it was outside the shop on double sided board, 4 on each side, so I'd say it was for customers, and yes it doesn't make a lot of sense. LOL.

I work 40 plus hours a week. I queued on a Thursday night from 7pm til midnight.
I queued on a Saturday morning from 4am till 9am......
My third was a pre-order.

I had a friend who whined that he could not get one. I told him I was going to queue at 4am. I rang him at 4am. He didn't want one badly enough to get out of bed.

I can't see it being much good for profit to be honest.
I can see me cancelling mine just before launch, if they even have 100,000 for launch then I think it'll be enough.

Ordered mine on the 12th from there and I haven't gotten the e-mail, my order just says "Order Acknowledged". :(

However, it may be because my card expired at the end of the year. I rang them up today just before their hotline closed to change the card, although he did mention that I should receive an e-mail shortly as well as a phone call from them to make sure I still want the console and to let me know when I would get it. Though if yours is guaranteed from the 15th, mine definitely should be. :cool:
 
preordered in two different branches of a national shop, No 1 in the queue in one and No14 in the other

I wentfirst into the one where I was at the top and after putting My deposit down started thinking that being the ONLY person on the list in one shop may not be such a good thing lol so put the second pre-order in anyway (obviously I may not be the only person by release date but better to be sure)

5 hours on day one, 5 hours on day 2. :eek: So that's 10 hours queing for your THIRD console and you'd already pre-ordered it?

Sorry chap but I don't think I wanted one "badly enough" to waste that sort of time. (Plus I get paid by the hour and 45 hours is a minimum).
Got one a few weeks later by just walking in and picking one up.

Whatever my mate did is up to him, I was just relaying his story.

Anyways, getting Waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy off topic here so let's let bygones be bygones eh? :cool:
 
Well all I can say is that if I am lucky enough to get one console from the two I have on pre-order then the other will remain in the shop- and I really hope someone gets it who actually wants one, rather than just making bad situations ( low availability AND high price) that much worse.

I wouldnt mind people selling on if value was actually added to the product but "bayers" are just ripping people off and doing nothing in the process (and yes waiting in queues for 8 hours or whatever IS basically nothing)
 
I ordered mine on saturday when i was out shopping, the guy said their chain was getting 20,000 consoles, im no. 34 - ill order online as well when my regular place puts them up for pre order to be safe.
