The Official "Unofficial" OcUK Forum, Annual LAN Party

I'd be interested in attending, but not as a player...

I'm a network technician and could quite likely supply a few 24 / 48 port 1Gbps switches for use at the event. Also got some other hardware lying around that could be used to provide other services (routers, firewalls, laptops, storage etc.).

You have mail ;)

A newborn baby happened, thats what :)

A slight miscalculation on time required on my behalf regarding the little bairn.

Also, I went through some MAJOR changes at work which meant I had to concentrate on other things for a while.

On the backburner untill I can commit 100% to the project again as it needs to be done right.

I think we should start this up again, although i cant offer my uni facilities or equipment as i have now finished uni and work for BBC. Did we ever get anywhere on the location? Birmingham seems to be a good site, good transport links as well for those of us who live in London. Perhaps a June event would be good?

Grats on the baby btw Gimpy.

(If this does go ahead, can we give it a better name please? ;))

(The LAN, I'm sure your child has a perfectly good name)

Looking at the map of prospective attendees Birmingham looks good, fairly central and good transport links as you say. Coventry might be another option but I'm guessing the rail links aren't as good.

Nobody coming from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire or Suffolk, only 2 from north of Leeds helps, I reckon the majority of people can probably get to the Midlands within 4hrs.

I shall register my interest in this, definitely :). Had my last home-LAN during the Easter break and I would be well up for taking part in another :) (South East guy here, but can make it to the Midlands with minimum of fuss :))
