Apple won't call them widgets, they'll come up with a fruity new name.
If the iOS doesn't have a major overhaul soon. Android and w7p are going to obliterate it.
Yes like 'honeycomb' was going to kill the iPad and generic HTC / Samsung model xxxxx is / was going to kill the iPhone.
If they still havent managed it by whoring out there foc op system to every landfill phone manufacturer on the planet I dont see the lack of a few widgets really making that much of a difference.
I'm hoping Apple dont go down some desktop-esque mess of a home screen - live updating icons and more info on the lock screen would be enough for me.

Yup, I agree. The only reason I still have an iPhone is because of MobileMe. The lagging on the iPhone 4 is reminding me of what my 3g turned into when I updated to iOS4. : /
Indeed, the last few updates have really buggered up the smoothness on the iPhone 4. Quite disappointing really.
This has annoyed me on the iPod Touch front as well. Most of the bug fixes don't even effect us. For the lagginess all we have is AirPlay to show for it.
These problems on new devices only appeared during iOS 4's run. So me think the multitasking isn't quite as swish as Apple would have you believe. I hope iOS 5 has some upgrades on this front.
When the iPhone 3GS came out with 3.0 it was just as fast at the end of it's initial year when running 3.1.3. Not so the iPhone 4.
And then ios4.0 came out and bricked millions of iphone 3g's. Let's see how iOS5 works with the iphone 3gs? Maybe you wont be able to make calls like all those people last year. haha.
I imagine iOS 5 will be iPhone 5 and 4, with limited 3GS support, and no support for the 3G, much like iOS 4 left out the original iPhone. That's okay though as I'm upgrading!
macrumours.com said:Eldar Murtazin, editor-in-chief of Russian mobile phone blog Mobile-Review today reported in a Tweet (via MacStories) that iOS 5 will not be compatible with the iPhone 3GS, limiting the next-generation operating system to the current iPhone and of course new models yet to come as far as the iPhone is concerned.
Just one comment. Apple iPhone 3Gs wont be upgradable to iOS 5.x. iPhone 4 will.
The information is unverified and it is unclear from where Murtazin obtained the information, but he does have a very solid reputation in the mobile phone rumor community. Murtazin does not, however, frequently report on Apple's plans.
^ The 3G is no longer supported by Apple (It was dropped with 4.3)
I'm looking to buy an Apple laptop for uni in a few months and the Air appeals to me- how long might it be between announcement of the Air refresh and it going live on the Apple store?
